You should be able to view terrain from inside hills etc, that way we can
create undergroudn caves etc - Mark agent1Jul 6, 2002, 12:00pm
In most cases you wouldn't have people lower than the terrain, so the bottom isn't rendered to improve performance.
If you want caves right now, just make a hole in the terrain and use objects for the under-terrain portion. -Agent1 [View Quote] eepJul 6, 2002, 3:07pm
It should still be an option to make the terrain cell 2-sided...

I think a lot of things should be options. Like your defualt terrain
texture.... >:\ -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- A message from Zeo Toxion -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [View Quote] carlbanksJul 6, 2002, 5:02pm
I agree. But AWCom is turning around and after years of requesting the
features are finally being put in. [View Quote] grimbleJul 6, 2002, 7:34pm
Having two-sided terrain (or a world setting for it) would be for the whole
world, just so that one area can have a cave. The use of a cave the same shape as the hill (not a common feature in the world as we know it) is questionable too really. If you want a cave, I think the best solution is to build one with suitable objects under the terrain. Looks better and more easily made to look like you want. OPTIONS!!! WE NEED OPTIONS! Lots and LOTs of options! Make world features
like windows XP! Tonnes of features and years to set up! W00t! - Mark *Calms - And breath.. and breath... and breath* ptolemyJul 7, 2002, 2:41pm
Maybe the line of objects taccd.rwx. which don't rendered on the underside
can be reworked so that they do. [View Quote] tony mJul 9, 2002, 6:00am
.... it would also unfortunately take years to program all of these
options. I recommend you look at this if you haven't already: news://news.activeworlds.com/3d22fcca$1 at server1.Activeworlds.com On 7 Jul 2002 09:51:46 -0400, "strike rapier" [View Quote] >OPTIONS!!! No excuse. You want options? Just look at Directory Opus (http://www.gpsoft.com.au/Intro.html), which is the EPITOME of options (and the most configurable software I've EVER used--and I've used a LOT)--and it's just a Windows Explorer replacement! Surely if such a lowly app like that can have THAT many options, AW can at least have a few more than it already does...especially since AW is meant to basically be an immersive (virtual) reality simulator where people don't just spend a few minutes each day using but could, in theory, "live".
