Does anyone know of a bot or program that can determine a world server's
version and build number *without* having to be a caretaker? Using the
remote admin tool doesn't count as a solution. :)

Thanks for replying. I feel stupid now. I haven't used the Xelagot for a
while, but I use the Av99 bot (basically the Xelagot with all of the
options set in an .ini file) on a daily basis for hosting customers.

actually, x1 does that on your chat screen (and gives you the uni
build as a bonus) just before it gives you the world welcome message.
Also, as pointed out by Karten, at the world attributes screen (tab
varia). The server's version is not mentioned, as that is not
completely safe to determine. Between AW main versions there are
transision periods (betas and fixes) and so my bot does set internally
some equivalence (for 3.4 I have like 3 'stages') just for practical
purposes, like disabling or enabling options, but those are just more
or less blindly enlightened guesses :)

If you need that info using a xelagot script:
UniverseBuild %u
gives the build number of the universe server
WorldBuild %w
gives the build number of the world server

Thanks for your detailed reply, XelaG!

I know the Av99 bot shows the universe and world information, but I
totally forgot that the Xelagot also does this. I've been using the Av99
for so long I forgot what the Xelagot interface looks like. :)

However, your script information will come in handy for a small
experiment I am doing. Thanks again for your help.
