I have my own uniserver and I'd like to teleport around by clicking on URL's
on web pages, does anyone know how to create a teleport.cgi script, similar
to that of the one that ActiveWorlds is using?

See how if you click on a link on the web page, it will open up AW browser,
and teleport you to that location.

Any ideas on how I could get something like this up and running?

Oh you clever little person, Joe has the Proxy encryption and source.
Everyone knows it. Teleport.CGI is a file basde system that sets a simple
awm file to the location that you wish to teleport to and is set to be
triggered by AW.

Ok, weird. It works on my local machine, but I tried it on two other
computers, and it will simply "download" a file, but it doesn't teleport the
user. Why would it work on one computer, but not the others? Also, where
is it supposed to download the file to?

You have to associate the MIME-type of the file to the AW browser. It's
just a little pointer for the browser. If you're not going to use it from
outside the AW browser then never mind it, just use AW's script (it won't
actually request it, just parse the URL).

How do I associate the MIME-type of the file to the AW browser? What is the
MIME/file name or type that I'm trying to associate? Where do I do this at?
Could you please give me some step by step instructions. (I apologize, I'm
a newbie)

Thanks,

Mark

Ok, after doing some tinkering... I figured out what was wrong. Yes, it was
a file association problem. I had more than one AW browser installed, and
the reason the script wasn't working was it was trying to load up the first
browser installed on my machine.

I also figured out how to fix this problem. If you click on the "start"
button, and then click on "control panel" then click on "folder options"
then click on "file types" tab. Then scroll down to "AWT". Next click on
the AWT file extension, it should say "aworld document". Click on the AWT
file type, and then click on the "advanced" tab. It should say "Actions:"
and directly under that it should say "open". Click on the "open" command,
and click "edit". It should say application used to perform action:
"C:\Active Worlds\aworld.exe"

Next, add a "%1" to the end like this:

It should say "aworld document". Click on the AWT file type, and then click
on the "advanced" tab. It should say "Actions:" and directly under that it
should say "open". Click on the "open" command, and click "edit". It should
say application used to perform action:

If you have the Hope Community Church browser it should say:

"C:\Program Files\hope\aworld.exe" %1

That should fix it....

Mark

Thanks John, KAH, and everyone else for the hints and help!
