teleport.cgi script?

Mar 22, 2003, 4:52pm
I have my own uniserver and I'd like to teleport around by clicking on URL's
on web pages, does anyone know how to create a teleport.cgi script, similar
to that of the one that ActiveWorlds is using?

See how if you click on a link on the web page, it will open up AW browser,
and teleport you to that location.

Any ideas on how I could get something like this up and running?

teleport.cgi script?

Ok, weird. It works on my local machine, but I tried it on two other
computers, and it will simply "download" a file, but it doesn't teleport the
user. Why would it work on one computer, but not the others? Also, where
is it supposed to download the file to?

How do I associate the MIME-type of the file to the AW browser? What is the
MIME/file name or type that I'm trying to associate? Where do I do this at?
Could you please give me some step by step instructions. (I apologize, I'm
a newbie)

Thanks,

teleport.cgi script?

Mar 27, 2003, 7:40pm
Ok, after doing some tinkering... I figured out what was wrong. Yes, it was
a file association problem. I had more than one AW browser installed, and
the reason the script wasn't working was it was trying to load up the first
browser installed on my machine.

I also figured out how to fix this problem. If you click on the "start"
button, and then click on "control panel" then click on "folder options"
then click on "file types" tab. Then scroll down to "AWT". Next click on
the AWT file extension, it should say "aworld document". Click on the AWT
file type, and then click on the "advanced" tab. It should say "Actions:"
and directly under that it should say "open". Click on the "open" command,
and click "edit". It should say application used to perform action:
"C:\Active Worlds\aworld.exe"

Next, add a "%1" to the end like this:

It should say "aworld document". Click on the AWT file type, and then click
on the "advanced" tab. It should say "Actions:" and directly under that it
should say "open". Click on the "open" command, and click "edit". It should
say application used to perform action:

If you have the Hope Community Church browser it should say:

"C:\Program Files\hope\aworld.exe" %1

That should fix it....

Thanks John, KAH, and everyone else for the hints and help!

RWX browser/modeler

Mar 23, 2003, 7:13am
I'm looking for a program to view/browse local RWX files. Would it be
possible to create a "rwx" plugin for the P3dO browser to support Active
World RWX files?

http://www.senosoft.com/softp3do.php

Also, instead of having "Object Yards" would it be possible to create a
web-based viewer (possibly php based) that could browse a directory and
create thumbnail images of all the objects? Then when you click on a
thumbnail it would open the object up in a larger window? (a web-based
viewer)

RWX browser/modeler

<sigh> That would have been great if we could have gotten him to add .rwx
support.

I wonder how hard it would be to write a plugin on our own? The program
supports plugins, and I'm sure there are plenty of developers on the list.
Maybe someone would be willing to help write a plugin so we could view AW
RWX files using that p3dO browser?

Katrine,

Yeah, I don't think Yarp is familiar with the AW .rwx file standard. Maybe
we can get some of the guys (Ananas, and Andras) to help him? If he could
add AW's .rwx support, that would be awesome!

It would make a great file browser for viewing local files, and viewing
..jpg, .gif, .cob, and .rwx files locally on your machine. It supports
EVERYTHING, including 3D Studio, TrueSpace/Caligari objects (COB) files,
Bryce files, and "The Sims" files. Now if we could only convince him to add
AW's .rwx support.

Here is a list of all the file types this browser currently supports:

http://www.senosoft.com/softp3doFileFormat.php

Everyone, please drop Yarp an E-mail, (yarp at senosoft.com) and ask him to
support the AW .rwx file type!

I wasn't saying that Yarp is incompetent. I was just saying that we have
people like Ananas and Andras on this thread that have experience in dealing
with .rwx browsers (that support the AW .rwx files). I don't believe the AW
..rwx files are exactly 100% compliant with .rwx (correct me if I'm wrong).
But by having Ananas and Andras work together with Yarp, they could create a
nice plugin (that would work well with AW 3.3/3.4 and hopefully all AW .rwx
files).

I talked to Yarp about it, and he didn't seem against it. If he has
documentation, on how to create a plugin for his browser, then it might be
worth looking into. It really would be awesome to have a browser such as
this to view local .rwx files.

You can download it, and see if it answers some/most of your questions.

Creating a nice .RWX browser...

Mar 24, 2003, 8:33pm
Ananas/Andras,

I've been looking for a good .RWX browser, but the only thing I've found was
the RWXLook/Mod viewer (that I've been unable to get to work). I stumbled
across a nice file browser on the Internet, it allows you to quickly browse
..jpg, .gif, as well as .cob files in a nice browser window. (So you can
easily view files on your local machine).

Only problem is that it does not support .rwx files. I contacted the author
of the program (Yarp), and he said he may be willing to add .rwx support. I
really don't know much about .rwx, but I know that you wrote a browser
(rwxmod) that I can't seem to get working (because it can't find the
textures). But I was wondering (since you're familiar with .rwx) if you
could help "Yarp" create a plugin for his browser that will support AW .rwx
files.

This way people can download his free browser, and view .rwx files in a
window (along with .jpg, .gif, .cob, etc.) just like a file explorer.

http://www.senosoft.com/softp3do.php

If anyone knows of a browser out there that has this type of functionality,
please let me know. But I've looked everywhere and I haven't been able to
find a good browser/viewer. Especially not one as good as this one.

If you'd be interested in such a browser, please send Yarp an E-mail letting
him know that you'd appreciate his willingness to add AW .rwx support to his
great browser.

Yarp's e-mail address is: yarp at senosoft.com

Re: P3DO Explorer

That's great! That's awesome that Yarp's going to finally support the AW
..rwx files in his file browser! Long live Yarp!

PayPal IPN and subscriptions

Apr 3, 2003, 3:36pm
Has anyone written a script for a Xelagot that would work with PayPal?

I have a UniServer, and I was wondering if it is possible to do three
things:

1) Create a link on a web page for a Register Now button, and when it's
clicked, the user can make a payment with PayPal, and upon successful
payment a "bot" would then use the username and password generated by PayPal
to create (and enable) a new user account (using that user name and
password). For example if a 1 year subscription was made, the bot would
create and enable a new user account with an expiration date of 1 year with
that user name and password generated by PayPal.

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/xcl/rec/subscription-pass-manual

The new user would then use the login & password (that was E-mailed by
PayPal) to login (as a citizen), and then they could change the screen name
(and password) to whatever they like using the "Options -> citizen" menu in
the browser.

2) Create a webpage with a PayPal 1 month "renewal button" and use an
"option field" for the Citizen number, so that when clicked, and Payment was
received by PayPal then the bot would extend a citizen's expiration date
(for a particular citizen number) by one month.

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_xclick-sub-factory

If a six month renewal was paid, then it would extend the citizen's
expiration date by 6 months. If a 1 year renewal was paid, then it would
extend the citizen's expiration date by one year.

Upon receiving payment, the bot would update the citizen's account, and
extend it accordingly (based upon the length of the subscription).

3) Create a script so that when you click on the "register" button on the AW
Browser it would accept a PayPal payment, and then upon accepting payment, a
bot would create and enable a new user account?

How would I go about doing something like this? Is it possible?

PayPal IPN and subscriptions

Yes, my universe is legal, but what do you mean use the "built in system"?
There is no "built in system". The "built in system" doesn't point towards
anything. If you click on the register button, it just gives you a free
membership. I heard you can write an API for skipjack, or some other
merchant software. I was asking if it were possible to write one for PayPal
instead. So what would I use, the SDK? Is it even possible to do this? If
so, how would I go about doing it?
