object yard script (Bots)
object yard script // Bots.sunnyJan 10, 2003, 3:31am
I am looking for a script that I can load my object (models) path into and
it will build my OY for me. I am sure that some of you are most likely thinking..... well write one..... see that is where the problem lies.....LOL. I have no clue how to write such a thing. I know nothing about script writing at all. Heck I just learned how to use the silly things. One thing I do know is that I am lazy and after many hours ....LOL.... and just a dent in my path list. I feel I am getting no where with setting up my OY to clean out my path. I had heard that Mauze was someone that a world owner could turn to in time of need and Mauze was who suggested to me to write to this list and see if anyone knew of the script I am talking about. I was very impressed how quickly I received a reply from Mauze! It always warms my heart to see how people help each other out in the community. I have heard others speak of this script but no one seems to know where I can find it. My path has over 7000 objects on it and it is time to clean the darn thing out. If anyone knows where I can obtain this thing I would be very grateful!! ananasJan 10, 2003, 5:29am
Beware, you'll need a DOS box (Win32 console) for this :

There's also the dynamic object yard script for Xelagots, but I don't
think it's quite as good as an object yard itself. http://www.ricta.net/ethaw/dotyb.html (the script) -Sk8man1 (346035) [View Quote] .sunnyJan 11, 2003, 4:01pm
I got the file and I used the reggen. THe reggen shows that I have 9000
objects, but when I get the bot to building it only shows that I have a little over 7000. Is the count determined by the perameters I set in the inf file? is that where I lost some of the objects? I have a p60 that I am trying to do this in. I have ran it a few tiems and the most I have been able to get it to see is 8000. what am I doing wrong? Thanks so much for your help in advance!! There are more than one possible reason for this.
The INI file allows excluding specific models - by size (ExcludeSize=....) This is thought to exclude models like huge sky objects as they have been used a lot in 2.2/3.1 and might still be on the OPs - by name (ExcludeZObj=...) This allows to exclude models starting with the letter Z, "Special" objects, that require special rights. The third reason might be a technical one. After you ran the program over the registry, it gives you the size of the resulting area. If this size exceeds your world size (length or width or both) you can try to fit it in by modifying the other parameters in the INI file. I usually start with both offset values (xOffset=/zOffset=) set to 0 and making the result square by playing with the BuildWidth=, if it cannot be fit, I increase the number in LayerCount= or decrease the MinDist=, if only little space is missing. When the "shape" of the area is OK, I set the offset values to half the width that the program told me as the result of the last run. It is centered at GZ then. [View Quote] |
