is there a way to slow down the rate at which a Preston edits objects?
i got my world winterized and i want to remove the snow from the objects.
all my ground covering 400+ objects have this in the action.
create name winter,texture snow1
I want that all to be edited to be
create name winter
but when i do that with Preston it lags itself off-line.
to get it winterized in the 1st place i did it all by hand took lots of my
time doing it that way. The Preston bot is just way to fast for this kind of
job.
if xelagot will do it and not lag itself off-line could someone make me a
script?
i want to change all object actions create name winter, texture snow1 to
create name winter

Yeah that happens, if you do too much too fast, it seems to make bot freeze
up. The thing that I have seen most when changing a lot of objects with a
preston bot is to divide up the task. People use more than 1 command to
change each section of the snow area. I am not sure if a preston can do it
by model name or something, but see if there is anyway you can divide it up.
If not, then you might want to change to xelagot scripts to see if those
work.

The Preston only sees objects that are 10 meters around itself, just need
some way to slow its object editing down to maybe 5 objects per sec.
The way it is now it tries to change all objects that it can see as fast as
it can lol

I don't have a script that will do what im asking. Im not a programmer so I
can not make one. :-(
XelaG's help pages under the topic "Xelagot action script" is way beyond my
understanding.
Its written in a way a programmer can make sense of it, but not the
nonprograming people.

You can create a survey of your whole area with Xelagot, filter to get just
the objects with the command you want to change, then save that as a project
file. Then do an search replace/function in a text editor and save the file
with a new name. Mass delete the first project, build with the edited
version retaining cit name, time, etc. No script required.

hmm wait, it worked but it also added junk in the objects action files.
when i did the replace/function it did replace but it made the following
line included in as a object action.
now all my snow objects are looking normal but they have this as an action.
create name winter 960 100732039

them group of numbers after winter should not be there and then numbers are
different on each object.

You most likely have the original project project...

Use the orignal project and do the find/replace again, but this time be sure
you don't take out the extra comma or space at the end that caused the
problem you now are getting.

Delete all shitty snowed objects, and rebuild using the new edited project.

Test it all with one object if you like. It'll work eventually.
