Hey leave my IDE alone :(
VS 7.1 and a 19" screen is better than a fricken telnet console to UNIX and
CC any day of the week.

Which, happens to be what I had to do my C coursework in *feels ill* a
prehistoric OS and a prehistoric language :( and to think this is what I pay
lots of money for being taught =\

Well,,, I grew up on assembly (and wrote a few operating systems with it).
BTW - you don't telnet into a UNIX box! Maybe ssh into it and the money probably comes from your parents pocket :)

Unfortunately no, every student here ends up with a huge loan at the end of
their degree they start paying off as soon as they earn over £15,000 a year.
My C work had to be done on a Compaq Tru64 UNIX V5.1A tho. Hardly the most
efficent development platform in the world, we usually had 60 or 70 people
using it at once when all the classes were at the same time, and the process
commands usually took several seconds to scroll through.
Can't stand trying to program on a system where I don't have admit access,
its a PITA trying to get around security just to use the features you need
easily.
