Technical Problems, looking for help! // Communityseiya fayeNov 29, 2004, 12:35am
Greetings, I have a technical problem and am hoping someone will help me
with it: For about a week now I get disconnected from AW and all worlds included, everything I build within a 5 minute span just disappears and it says at the bottom "waiting for server" and the little "world connection is lost" comes up. Now for some time I thought it was my net connection, but it is not, I can access the internet through the internal browser just fine, so I am not sure if it is just this new version, it has been giving me problems of late. Also now I am down to the point where I cant even log onto AW, when I try it says unable to connect, contact support at activeworlds.com after shutting computer off and on a certain amount of times, I am still having problems, please help if possible, appreciate it~! -Seiya pyro goddessNov 29, 2004, 4:58am

Do you have a firewall? if so check if it is properly setup to run the
activeworlds browser that MAY be your problem -- Ksg Ind [View Quote] joshNov 29, 2004, 1:59pm
I had the same problem when I used to have to use 56k at my mums house (they
have DSL now), try changing the video mode AW is on, for some reason direct 3D with hardware & TL support kept booting me off every couple of minutes [View Quote] paulDec 1, 2004, 2:01am
The next time you get the waiting for server try opening IE and try to go
to www.activeworlds.com and see if you can bring up their web page. If you can't then there is an internet problem somewhere between your ISP and AWI's computers. If you or someone you know where you live knows how to use MSDos prompt (or Command) then you can try these commands: ping auth.activeworlds.com and tracert auth.activeworlds.com you should not see any timeouts. if there are any timouts tracert will show you where along the path they are if they are in the 1st 2 - 4 hops then the problem is most likely your ISP if they are in the later hops colse to the AW site then it's either the internet of AW's sites.
