JunoDome is back? (Community)
JunoDome is back? // Communitylady nighthawkNov 4, 2004, 9:42pm
I hear JunoDome was one of the *original* aw worlds and that it was owned by
Juno (.com) ... an ISP provider, for which, way back when, you could get a free cit if you chose Juno as your ISP. Correct me if that's wrong please! But with that in mind, how is it that the world is back in aw? Is AW going to perhaps be included in juno.com/netzero.com software as a *try it* thing? Or, since juno.com is now part of netzero, is AWI allowed to just use the world since juno.com is sorta no longer? Has AWI repartnered with Juno? Somebody straighten me out please LOL. Nosey peeps wanna know... LNH -- jermeNov 4, 2004, 10:34pm
JunoDome was not an "original" world, in that sense. It was created
several years ago, but AW and various other worlds have been around longer. JunoDome has not always been around. However, you are correct, JunoDome was created when, several years ago now (i'm not sure exactly how long), AWI (then called ActiveWorlds.com -- AWCom, I believe) formed a partership with Juno, a dial-up ISP. I'm not sure how long the partnership lasted, but eventully things fell apart, and the world went domrant. I'm not sure what has gone on since then. -Jeremy [View Quote] lady nighthawkNov 5, 2004, 1:30pm
Was just wondering if it's *legal* to run a world that was once owned
(presumably) by another company? If Juno owned the world then unless they have permission from Juno they shouldn't be running it ... I can only assume they do have permission or perhaps have restarted their partnership? Who knows, maybe AW owns all worlds and has full rights to all worlds? Just wondering... Thanks for the clarification. LNH -- [View Quote] alexthemartianNov 9, 2004, 5:31pm
I was one of the people who joined AW from Juno :) .. and citizenships were
not free for me i think, becuase i had to pay the 20 bucks along with everyone else for my first cit. Juno's browser was different i think.. it didnt have aw's icon (i think), and the downloads window (F3 now) was built-in to the browser, just left of the AW animated logo on the top-right of the browser im sorry if something i siad was false, becuase my memory slowly blurs away after a year O_o [View Quote] jstone2004Nov 12, 2004, 1:10pm
Technically, the world (as per nearly all commercial worlds of that
nature) was on AW's server... so AW can technically do whatever they please with it :-) J On 5 Nov 2004 11:30:23 -0400, lady nighthawk <dmurtagh27 at hotmail.com> [View Quote] > Was just wondering if it's *legal* to run a world that was once owned > (presumably) by another company?
