tho I am curious if you could link the program to AW, as in when you start
AW it has a 30 second delay and then starts this lil prog, that way you
won't have to worry bout remembering to start it everytime you start AW

The program does not make changes in AW itself, so I
cannot make AW start it.
What you can do is use a batch file like :
aworld.exe
sleep.exe 30
tgramlog.exe
I have put the sleep.exe there :

So far the most elegant solution I ever see!
Thank you Ananas for the wonderful work!

Or you can make it start tgramlog with AW in the batch instead of waiting,
that would be better in the end ;). Let me know I can make the batch if
others want that.

OK, look on this page towards the bottom :
http://bowen.linux-dude.com/82810.php (I added it on with other stuff I've
made for AW). make sure the tgramlog.exe is in your AW path with aworld.exe

If it gives you an error about waiting for AW to start.. tell me and I'll
fix it.

k I loaded everything up into the AW Directory but when I run AW the other
prog doesn't start, kinda like it had no effect on ananas Prog. ran the task
manager and tgramlog.exe wasn't running, had to manually start it again.
dunno how to fix it but I appreciate the effort Bowen

Thanks for the feedback :)
I had some trouble when I started AWorld.exe though
AwStart and let AwStart wait for the AWorld window to
close. AW 2.2 used a lot of CPU time and blocked other
web applications like Eudora and NetScape, AW3.0 even
kept crashing on friends PCs. I tried 4 ways to start
and wait, all had the same result.
I have no idea what exactly AW does but it doesn't seem to
like it when it's not started through the explorer, so the
only solution I currently see is this batch file thing.
I don't even think that it's a problem that AWorld.exe
itself causes, it looked more like something the internet
explorer does, but it was afterall something I was not able
to solve. My workaround for AwStart was to exit AwStart as
soon as the AWorld window popped up.
It's better to have a less comfortable solution than one
that isn't reliable or blocks all other applications that
want to use the web.

I don't think it shows it running.. check the log file it creates to see if
your outgoing Tgrams are saved there.

My batch files works pretty well.. it pops up AW fine, most of the time
it'll exit right, I even got it to work with your program.. I'm not sure if
it works on WinNT versions though, so someone will need to test it.

It starts up iconized and should show in the task manager,
at least in NT4 it does.
Maybe the problem is very similar to the AwStart problem I
described in my other posting (5 minutes ago, same thread).
If I find a solution I will post it, but currently I don't
see a better one than the manual start :-(

Yeah it doesn't start with an icon for me, being in the 9x version.. must be
you're doing it as a service but that's ok.. my version works for me, I'll
see this weekend if I can get it to work on my older computer.

If it works without the "sleep" command between the
start of aworld.exe and tgramlog.exe you must have a
really fast PC and fast line, on my NT4 I need the
sleep between the two calls, with at least 10 seconds.
Maybe there is not one ideal solution for everyone,
but at least one of the 2 options should work in
all cases :)

Yeah my computer was too fast before.. so I threw in about 2 enters.. that
solved it.. figured in a lot of people aren't on as fast as a PC as I am, so
I threw in about.. oh 15 enters to fix that.. I tried to account.. if not
I'll put a 10 second sleep in if that's the case with my old 286 PC (has
win95 lmao) :)

it shows it running when I manually start it, but if I wait to see if the
batch file forces the program to start it never pops up in the task
manager....and I'm running 2000Pro

Yeah I'm going to bet it has to do with the NT shell.. I'll check into that
on the weekend if you can wait :)
