If you're planning to become a Platinum member for it's own sake here's the price breaks:

Get a monthly membership if you're planning to stay 9 or less months (9 month price: $29.95 + 8 * $7.95 = $93.55, 10 month price: $101.50)

Get a yearly membership if you're planning to stay between 10 months and 5 years (assuming no partial years)

After 5 years you actually save money with the monthly membership. $0.75 on the 5th year, $4.55 every year thereafter.

If any of your years are assumed to be partial years, just go with the monthly subscription. You can't make up the difference of a single month's savings in the 1st 5 years anyway.

Weird but true. Assumes fixed pricing of course but if the ratio holds then your savings over the really REALLY long term could as well.

Conclusion: If you have any doubts about how long you want a membership, monthly is better. If you know you will be keeping a membership for exactly 10 months, 11 months, 1,2,3, or 4 years get a yearly membership. If they let you switch from a yearly to monthly membership without penalty, do so after the 1st year.

Of course 5 years by now Daz will likely be owned by Caligari :)

How does the 3dPaint feature of Hexagon 2 work with Truespace? Can I use the UV mapping features of Hexagon 2 instead of Ultimate Unwrap 3d or should I get both? I like to do organic modeling so which approach would you recommend ? I want all this to compliment Truespace 7.1

Well, I purchased Hexagon and have yet another learning curve ahead of me. Looks very promising for use with my existing trueSpace versions though.

Loaded up a shark model I did a few months ago for a game engine and it seemed to handle it well. UV mapping features seem to be pretty nice.

Can someone create an object using either Truespace or Hexagon2, UV Map and then texture with their 3D brush using only Hexagon2, then render object in Truespace. Then post the image here. The object can be a textured sphere or anything you like. I am interested most in how the UV Map and 3D bump map is handled and shown in Truespace. (Any version)
Be creative with the 3D brush.
Splinters have you had time to get your fingers away from the OTHER keyboard?

At the moment I have my hands on both keyboards...;) but distractions from both sides (3D and music) as well as work have prevented me from doing anything substantial on either just lately...:(

Still, half term approaches and I should have some free time..:D but I feel that TS7.5 might need a bit of icon love as well...:p

For anyone using Hexagon2 there is now an update. Bug fixes etc.

http://www.daz3d.com/support/downloads.php?product=hexagon

From their forum:

"A quick question, I never got round to installing the 2.0.1 patch, should I run them both or will the 2.1 patch do the 2.0.1 as well? "

"just install the 2.1 no need to install the 2.01."

Still wrapping my head around Hexagon but it looks very powerful (like a stable version of AMAPI...which is very cool!) I think it will be excellent in conjunction with Truespace. I just thought I;d jump in here and mention that you can get a lot of cool stuff with this Platinum Club we had to join to score the Hexagon deal (STEAL!!!!!). I thought at first that I wasn't interested in all of this "cheesy Poser type junk", but ended up downloading some HI Res models (Victoria, Michael and Stephanie) and some morphs which allow me to make nearly any face and body you can imagine and they export out of the free DAZ Studio app as .obj files which work great in TS...with the club you get 10 free Plat Club items plus a $5 voucher per month (I joined end of May so had $10 when I checked in) so I got everything mentioned above plus some other goodies for an additonal investment of $6.

I don't work for DAZ or anything, but thought I'd put that out there for people who maybe thought (like me) that the other stuff was lame..might as well take full advantage of the deal!
