I like the style Paul, I would think going with 2 is a good idea and perhaps if they are received well you can mention that these 2 are actually part of a series consisting 23 titles.

Cheers,

Thanks guys-always nice to get some feedback when you work pretty much in isolation on these projects...:)

Hopefully you already know that I think your work is great with these books and the characters - and I'm dying to know what's going on with Harolds Hair!

Anyway, I just wanted to chime in and offer my best wishes with your venture - I hope you are successful beyond your wildest dreams - you certainly deserve to be given the amount of work you have clearly put into these books.

Good luck

ATB

Hey, not sure whether you've done this already, but take a look at this site. It has the do's and don'ts when dealing with submitting material.

I recently bought Children's Writers' and Artists' yearbook 2006 by A&C Black, which has listings for a whole load of agents or publishers (what they want from people), which you may be interested in. If you feel like it, you could PM me to ask for a few of them... of course, if it is illegal I will have to refuse you via e-mail... definately with no attachments... ;)

But if it's fine (seeing as it's just addresses and numbers) I'd happily help you out.

I won't tell a single soul - they'll never ever know that you've let me in on the secret (even if they read my post in the 'Harold...' thread!!;) )

Cheers Andy, I already bought the book and it was very good. I have about 6 or so agents who have agreed to accept a submission so I am sending them off tomorrow. Fingers crossed...:o

Here is my submission...seems quite small but then again the last few were about 20+ pages and were probably overwhelming...thought it might be of interest to others considering a similar project.

We can but wait and see...:o

Looks really good, nothing more can be said, just have to wait, when will you find out if any of the agents are willing to be yours, or to investigate further?

Most 'promise' to turn a submission around in 4-6 weeks. I once had one return the same week I sent it :o and the last one took 7 months to get back!

This time I have sent 5 identical submissions. Like you say Hemulin...just got to wait and see. If I am not at school in September-chances are I got very lucky and signed a multi-million pound deal...

...on second thoughts I will probably see you in September...

Well guys, three rejections and a 'we are full' in only a matter of weeks-must be a record...:(

Still, they'll come round eventually....surely...:o

That's too bad splinters, I say keep pluging away eventually good things will happen. Not sure what was meant by "we are full" strange response.

Cheers,

Cheers,

Sorry Daybe, the exact term was 'not taking on any new clients' which I guess is better than a flat out 'we don't like your work'.

In all fairness no-one has said that-they are usually complimentary about the quality but do not feel 'they could give their best to it' or 'it does not fit in with our current list'.

One day their current list will be outdated...I can wait 'til then if need be...;)

Just an update for anyone interested. All submissions were rejected, however, I have added some extra pages and am sending another set of submissions off tomorrow. I am nothing if not persistent...but I am going to take a look into other opportunities if this lot fail.

This morning I received a short form contract (basics before the details are finalised) from a distribution company in Singapore. It is primarily Video On Demand and digital distribution but there are contacts in TV/Animation and an option for print publishing. A UK publisher is currently considering three book ranges for print.

For those who were interested in the progress of the books, thought you might be interested to know where the whole Buddy World thing is heading.

Many thanks to Caligari as well...the most interesting project feature has been better PR for my work than any submission I have sent yet...:)

Just make sure you shave when one of your little tike fans decide to give you a big smack on the cheek! Wouldn't want one of your admirers get beard burn! :D

Congratulations!

Perhaps we will see your name up their with "Baby Einstein" and "Harry Potter." for years to come.

Forgot to update this one. Good new and bad news; the distribution deal fell through at the last hurdle (story of my life) but I did get offered the chance to illustrate a book (or range of books) by a UK publisher so not all bad...:D

Bummer. Hard to believe that no one wants to publish your existing work... :(

Man, you need a financial backer and to go indie on this stuff. ;)
