If everything goes well, within about two weeks we should be shiping 3 solid upgrades. There is some good stuff comming your way:

TS7.1 will include new features like Player side SDS and poly blend tool, UV projection tools, improved collaboration, much faster physics, saving of Player screens to file, edge weld tool and many improvements in robustness of the program.

I did not have heart to call this version 7.02 so we are renaming it to 7.1. This means that next upgrade with character animation stuff will be called 7.5 and yes it will be a free upgrade to those customers who were promised free TS7.1.

Vray1.0 will include most, if not all, additional features promised, like subsurface scatering, soft shadows, Fresnel shaders, Glossy reflectance shader etc. I am including a Beta image showing subsurface scatering and Glossy reflectance shader by Saul Cross below.

Finaly, truePlay will be released together with some new content on our web site for free download. We are thinking to change the name to shareSpace, but the bottom line is that this free player will be a great new way to share your TS7 artwork with your friends and customers. I am also excited about ability to play back 3D recordings which will augment significantly our ability to create new course ware for TS7. It will also be a great way to share your modeling tricks or even submit bug reports to our customer support.

Hmm, thought I rememberd of hearing something like 6 month and now it looks more like six weeks

That 6 month figure was for the update that was going to be called 7.1, but has now been renamed to 7.5, & AFAIK no mention has been made of a date change for that. The update that was going to be called 7.02, but has now been renamed to 7.1 is what we will hopefully be seeing in the next few weeks.

It was posted on the old forums and they were only speculation of what they may be able to get done.

-subsurface scattering
-true displacement mapping
-analytical dof
-analytical motion blur
-frensel and glossiness

Those were some of the things brought up which we see 2 out of the 5 but this was me trying to remember what Roman had said and the others may or may not be in there, I don't now. Although, I hope:D

Thanks for the news waiting to here more as it comes close to coming out. In the mean time how about another picture (particularly one that stress sub-surface scattering)!!

thanks Asem.. I remember that post as you said "It was posted on the old forums and they were only speculation "

it was also called "vray 1.0 final" in a post back then, so I wouldn't mind know exactly what we will be getting.:D

It is still 6 months for character animation in 7.5 (maybe a little less) but only 2 weeks for 7.1 with goodies below. I have noticed that our Beta testers have a lot of fun with some recent improvements in subsurface scattering in Vray1.0 so I decided to make a little collage below. All of the images are done in last two days and many are technical tests so I will not blow the cover of our Beta testers by naming them:) But I do give them permission to post here these or other (nice) images created with TS7.1 and discuss them.

Ok, I will admit to doing some of these SSS samples and here are a few more. These are early tests but you can see the potential here and latest version has sooooo much more options;

This is just a little test, using 3 new shaders to Vray, Fresnel, Sub-Surface and Glossiness shaders, I am still in the process of learning these so I am by no means an expert yet.

I have done some milk tests, Viz - because I also think it is a good SSS challenge (along with human skin).

Right now I haven't gotten it quite right but I can tell it should be possible. Since Roman has given us permission, I will post the results here when I get it to my satisfaction.

Well I see you have NVidia5200 which is not realy DX9 compatible, even though NVidia says it is. Some DX9 operations run in 'software emulation" on 5200 meaning the card just stops. I see Stoker has 5300 which also seems suspiciously close to 5200, I wonder if that card gives him real time shadows.

Hi Roman

Some questions:

1) Is the new Vray going to have more shaders.

2) Plus why can't we use lwa shaders for Lightworks
