I bought the boxed copy and recieved it the other day. I already managed to get the download version and haven't checked out the disk with the boxed copy. Does anybody know if there is anything different on the disk. Otherwise it goes on the shelf as a safety copy. Thanks For your time. Scott

The CD version is updated from the download version. I would advise installing it, especially if you were having any problems...:jumpy:

Splinters, tell me you're joking.

Because if the boxed CD contains a newer version of Truespace7 than the one I'm using, I'm sure I won't be the only TS7 customer expecting a downloadable update in the very near future?

but you're joking.... right?

Of course I am joking.....however, a patch is due from what I have read in these forums;

http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=245

That would make all copies of 7.0 the same regardless.....;)

A patch can be expected soon, it's being worked on. For those who own the CD version, yes there are differences and installing the CD version is preferred. For those who own the download version, there will be a patch for it - indeed the released patch may end up being ahead of what is on the CD and everyone will have to patch anyway!

Things are moving very fast here, even though tS7 is barely out the door, work has been and still is underway, in making improvements. You won't be waiting for the "big patch" with the animation features before you get some fixes and improvements!

More news as soon as it is available!

Thanks!

Tom

I have the downloaded version installed and never installed the cd. Should I install the cd version OVER the installed version and then install the patch when ready?

CD version has some minor improvements over the download version. I would install it just to be sure.

As for patch; it will update either version to 7.02 or whatever it is to be called, should make no difference which version is installed at the time.:)

So I take it the patch that people get is like updating true space to what people have on there CD versions:D

No, no, no...CD version is update of download version. Rather than supply patch to make download version same as CD, there have (or rather will be) further improvements so they will be in the patch.

The patch will make everybody's version the same but will be an improvement on both download and CD versions.

Think download = TS7.0

Think CD version = TS 7.01

Therefore Patch = TS7.02.......;)

CD version has some minor improvements over the download version.

...as well as missing some files:

<cd>:\Data\src\tS\RS Libraries\UI Items\Widgets library Items

is completely empty. Until 7.02 is released, I'd recommend installing CD version on top of the existing download version - that way you get the benefits of both versions.

If you leave before the postie comes in the morning, & you have anyone that stays at home [eg the Mrs, (or a very well trained cat :)) ], get them to check outside every morning, maybe even several times, even if they don't hear anyone at the door, as mine was just left outside my door. [ok, so I may have been asleep when he knocked, but I ususally wake up if they knock loud enough, as there is a note on the door asking them to] I was lucky that it was still there at 9:50pm when I happend to go out for something.

They're not usually too bad round here, then again, most deliveries I get are the kind that have to be signed for, so they don't have much choice.

Alien: My tS7 CD v 7.01 is missing the above items as well, but the folder where tS7 is installed is populated with 6 items. Could you verify that this is correct on your side?
FYI: My tS7 CD v 7.01 has 444,975,104 bytes/424MB of files on it.

No I did not install over downloaded installation. I did uninstall first. As I have said there is no Items on the CD in that folder. I have the bonestovertex.tsx within the vertex folder, but I have not installed it as of yet.

Okay, when I did an uninstall of the download version of tS7 v7.0 it left all files that I had saved. I removed my files to a different folder and deleted the tS7 folder. The only thing I did not remove was Registry Information. Then I installed tS7 v7.01. Then from within trueSpace I Imported my files in new created Libraries eg: My Objects, My Lights, My Recordings, My Textures, Etc... With that said the missing Widget Items from the CD folder were created somehow to my install folder, I dunno how. Also the TSX folder was created and populated with Plugins. At this point I am not sure what is missing if at all. Still investigating.

6? Nope, I have 21.

[Gotta love that PathCopy (http://home.worldonline.dk/ninotech/freeutil.htm#pathcopy) shell extension for Explorer :D]

FYI: My tS7 CD v 7.01 has 444,975,104 bytes/424MB of files on it.

That's the figure you get if you right click the drive & do properties, if you highlight everything in the cd's root folder you get a slightly different figure [due to the weirdness of filesystems I think], but doing it that way also tells you the number of files & folders [3279 files in 242 folders].

I don't know why you uninstalled 1st, but my advice would be to reinstall the download version, then install the CD version over the download version, without uninstalling.

6? Nope, I have 21.

Correction: I was looking in WM Items Folder which has 6 files.
This is what I have:
C:\trueSpace7\tS\RS Libraries\UI Items\Mouse Items: 1 Object
C:\trueSpace7\tS\RS Libraries\UI Items\Widgets Package Items: 91 Objects
C:\trueSpace7\tS\RS Libraries\UI Items\WM Items: 6 Objects
Now this is really weird I did a search for a couple of the files that you mentioned and the results were ZERO. EG: AdvNav widget.rsitem,
Arrow.rsitem
What the heck is going on?

I have confirmed that I have 3279 files in 242 folders. By the way I have learned so many Window tricks from you in the past few months! Thanks.

I reinstalled long before all of this came about. I am still investigating before I make a decision on what to do with this install #4.
