This is a great image Mr. 3D and I kinda sympathise you didn't get more votes. One reason maybe, is that nowadays, the challenges are voted on by more casual forum members, who don't necessarily take the time to read up on the specifics of the challenge (ie this month's retro look) nor indeed understand the complexities involved. They click the link, see a half dozen images and instantly pick out the one that appeals to them.

In addition, and I'm not trying to be insulting here - just trying to offer some constructive criticism, your unique style of modeling, whilst producing some great results (as your sub shows) is technically less sophisticated than others, and that may well swing a few votes. Furthermore, an area where I would seek to improve my skills were I in your position would be the use of textures. In my experience, when people look at 3D images, they kinda expect it to look photorealistic/hyper real. The one thing that sticks out with your images is they tend to look grainy. I don't know if this is down to a deliberate stylistic choice, too high a setting on your bump maps, low res material or what. Perhaps other forum members could chip in at this point as to why this may be.

Gonna sneak in an opportunity here to say thanks to Marie Bergantz for her help in getting ReBoot...err rebooted and ask her to take a peek at:http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=7508

The important thing is to find a style that is appropriate to express our ideas. photo realistic image that does nothing has no interest. it's just a technical exercise. Technical prowess become outdated faster than interesting ideas. ;)

THANKS noko....that means alot comming from you (I admire your work) !

Great job on reviving "Reboot' Marie !

Breach....If I didn't show how I created the models, then no one would know any otherwise. I share my process to give others an idea how easy it can be ! I combine point editing,SDS, and other advanced techniques in my work....just like everyone else does. And as far as textures go, if my model doesn't require a glossy pretty shine to make your eyes pop, then I'm not going to add it. Maybe sometime in the future I'll create a shiny reflective model that pops out at you, but in the meantime don't act like you are better than me.:)

Mmmm, I don't know. You go out of your way to pay a guy some nice compliments about his work and offer some friendly help and all you get is:

...don't act like you are better than me.

Ahh well, lesson learnt. I won't ever bother to do that again.
