Got fairly far with this one. I have it almost all the way enclosed. I'm sure that many of you will recognize the style.

Hm... I like the color, but maybe it IS too shiny... I will play around with that before putting in the smog/fog. I've also noticed a down-turn to the forums lately. I'm sure it will pick back up soon though. |

Ken, I am sorry I had not recognized the style at first, but the mentioning of Astro and Judy gave it away. Looking great. So, any chance of seeing Judy appear?

You aren't alone on the forum!
Have you considered using a cell shader to enhance the cartoon theme? |

I tried the toon shader and it doesn't do well with straight lines. I forget. is the cell shader V-ray or Lightworks or DX9?
I've been trying to keep this one in DX9 so I can get better at different styles using it. |

kena, I would say the 'cartoon', basically because it has more shading. The more the better for me, but that may not be the look you're goin' for. |

I like the one labeled "Cartoon" the best because the shadowing is slightly deeper. This was a cleaver entry because it also fits the theme nicely. Are we getting a robot in this one? |

lol guys - If I start putting in Judy and the robot, then I would have to buy that blueprint of the Jetson's home. I'm just going for "inspired by" ;)
OK... I guess I will go by the "cartoon" shader. I still need to smooth out the bottom's of that nearest house. |

well... SHOOOOOOOT!
Somehow I lost that scene. I had to go back to a prev incarnation and redo the clouds, ground and background.
Then I rendered it and have been waiting 10 min for it to save, but it looks like I'm going to have to end task on TS and try to recreate it.
So this is my interim update.

Got lucky that time. The scene saved efore I had to end the process.
Here is an attempt to give it more of a 3-d look with a "little" cloud floating above the mass and obscuring a part of one of the towers.
What do you all think?

I'm not sure ? It does tend to look a little lonely. If it were me, I'd try to stretch it out a little more and maybe populate the scene with a few more (not to say that it would help... I would try it just to see what it would look like ?). I think that I'd also try and man the vehicles (considering they're at a distance, not much detail needs to go into the character ?). And also, even though all the furniture disappears into the floor and walls, I think I'd still put a little furniture in the house (dining table & chairs) along with Rosie (the robot) sweeping the floor ? Sometimes, when I think my scene is good enough, I'll end up adding some more little things here and there, and I find that I wasn't finished after all. But then again, this is your project, and I like what you have (with the vehicles parked) !!! |

Some details would help:
rivets, panel lines, lights, furniture, floor coverings, antennae/sat dishes, ports, pipes, railings, etc. Also the glass dome seems nonexistent- there's no reflection or refraction. |

I wonder how this would look rendered by the Flash plugin?
You can find the tSFlash.tsx in your tS folder. |

I've never seen The Jetsons, so can't compare it to the original material. However I do like the plastic look to it alll, very retro. Like everyone else has said, a bit more detail methinks. Already, adding those few people in the cars has made a huge difference to this image. Adding more stuff will only bring it to life more. HTH. |
