Hi

I'm trying to link TS objects in a scene to a spreadsheet or database. Does anyone know how to do this?

Best regards

It has been done before via activeX components instantiated via script. You may want to search the scriptorium section. I think Wigand was the one who did it.

You can look in one of my tutorials to get an idea how those ActiveX controls work. The sample there gets access to a txt file, the same mechanism should be possible with excel files

http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=2176

Look also inside the RsObj here to see if there is a sampel for excel-ActiveXcontrol

I also remember that once we had a discussion sample in Scriptorium, but couldn't find it, means you'll have to search if none of the other old scripters will remember.

This one should helpto understand the basic mechanism

For me, it is not clear what you want to do. I see different options.

1. Do you want to change the database by manipulating a TS Object?

2. Do you want to change data in the spreadsheet and want to see the linked TS Objects change?

3. Do you want to click on an TS object and the spreadsheet should open?

4. Do you only want to hold the TS objects in a database and it doesn't matter whether inside or out of TS?

...

Maybe I can find more questions, so please tell us what you really want
