OK - I've spent the last 4 hours doing something other than working on this WIP

But!!!

That's ok because I can now present a little Tutorial Break

For anyone who wants to know how I did it:

How to crack an egg

You can post any questions or comments for it In this thread I made for it (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=7523)

well, I WAS working on my egg, but haven't gotten it finished yet. Unfortunately, I had to drive 200 miles away from home so I could take a class tomorrow. Won't be back home until Tuesday night.

And now I got side-tracked on another project, but I'm still working on this. Really I am. I kept thinking about the egg... the butterfly wings... Dali.....

OK - to show that if mankind is not careful with his manipulation of genetics, there could be problems... I present the marching egg!

Now to make sure that I get an odd number of them (representing nature) and fiddling around until I have them arranged.

Thanks. I just liked the idea of the expanding egg walking about in my scene. It will be MUCH larger than the tumbled buildings.

That looks really cool Kena. Keep up the good work and I am very eager to see the final image.

Thanks Breach... With another project I'm doing it looks like I should be able to post a final image next week.

I want to tweek it a bit and move things around until they are just right. But I just have this "mystery" streak in me that wants the next picture to the the final one. ;)

Just when I thought I had seen it all... a marching Egg...awesome! Nice work Kena. I know that it is more than just a marching egg and I'm looking forward to seeing the whole scene but for now....it's a marching egg :D

Thanks to both of you. I tried putting my all eggs in a row, and it looked a bit unbalanced.

Then I tried putting all my eggs in one basket. Didn't look right. Now I'm trying out a more "random" position for each egg.

Took me 4 days of arranging and rearranging and turning and posing and and and.... But I I've gotten it ready for just the right "mood" and "message".

I like how you have the eggs marching around the city....overshadowing mankind. I want to say it's metamorphorizing, but I better stick with mesmerizing ! I will add, once again, that it's EGGStraordinary !!!

Thanks Mr3D. I considered putting a face on the eggs, but then when I tried it out, it made the whole thing more amusing than disturbing, so I took the face off again.

Wow, great work kena. Clearly I was pretty far out of my element on this MMC. After seeing what you and Steinie have done (have not gotten to Mr. 3d yet) it has convinced me that I was waiting for a bus when the group was at the train station :D

Kena, then I should have put faces on mine...:D

You definitely are displaying the psyche of Dali in your render. All you need to do now is grow a weird mustache!

You always pull through in these challenges and this one is no exception. Nice going.

Thanks guys. I had to peruse through the man's work and read all the stuff about him and what he was trying to convey with his imagery. Dali was a publicly happy and fun-loving guy, but I just cannot help but think that he was privately twisted.
Tahnoak - the only way to get better is to model and model and model. I to see what you did with this and I hope you join in on the next one.
Steinie - If the faces melted, then it would have fit I think. But your work on this was good too as it stands.

Interesting. Most people who try surrealism miss the goal of expressing the subconscious and dream-like and just include some melted objects. Nothing wrong with melting but that alone does not make it surreal.

You created a surreal piece without melting things (maybe the ground a little). Tahnoak also did not use melting/bending. Steinie used melting/bending effectively to create the surreal.

Indeed. I think the three of us used surrealistic imagery to great effect. Thanks for the compliment! :D

Personally, I much prefer scenes/models that have nice orderly straight lines (probably due to all that standing to attention and marching about in my yoof no doubt - lol). However, there is just something about this scene that draws you in/causes you to wonder. Great job Kena.

Glad you like it Breach. If it draws you in, then I did my job on this one.
