Here is a tS7.6 Spot Light with color settings for Red, Green, Blue, and Intensity. This object uses the Object Navigation Widget.

Intensity setting is set at default which is 0.000 any number above this will set the Intensity Color brighter toward White and any number below 0.000 will lower the Intensity Color toward Black. To set pure Red, Green, Blue, or combination of any, set Intensity to ZERO first.

There is a View/Off toggle button for viewing from the Spot Cone.

There is a Attenuation aspect with Constant, Linear, and Quadratic buttons that set the preset values for Constant = No - Falloff with distance, Linear = Falloff with distance, and Quadratic = Squared falloff with distance.

This looks AWESOME!:)

I will test this one out this week too. (I still need time to look at Prodigy's Area Light too) I'm in the middle of a big project.;)

Thanks trueBlue!

Thanks. Yes the Color picker does not work as I have added its own Color UI. Also in doing so now allows you to Keyframe color changes in the Animation Editor. It has been said that you can adjust Intensity from the Attenuation aspect, try it in Constant mode. I have just updated this Spot light and added a View from Spotlight button. HTH

The "View From SpotLight" and using Object Navigation Widget to move should have been in 7.51. It is great to see it used here! Great Job!

Another thing that helps with spotlight intensity in DX9 is that if you use the floating point values (0 -> 1.0) for color, you can actually use values larger than 1.0. TrueSpaces DX9 engine supports HDRI color depth. Sometimes I've used a value as large as 30.0 ;)

You might want to download again as I did discover a problem. I had to lock down the Camera's Matrix by expanding it. So now it moves with the Spotlight.

When I click on the view button in the panel, it seems to give me a view from within the spotlight that sees parts of the spotlight itself. If I try to make any moves, the huge spotlight widget flashes in and out of view. The dark circle remains all the time. Only if I click on another object, does the spotlight widget disappear and then I can see the view from spotlight. However, to adjust the view requires re-selecting the spot, so the view is obscured again. The "invisible" checkbox doesn't seem to do anything, either in the animation editor or in the panel.

No doubt I'm missing something, but I don't know what. Thanks for any clues.

You might want to download again as this sounds like what I mentioned to Steinie. You can also unchecked Spot Light Widget in the Desktop/Widgets panel. Invisible hides the Cyan cone, and unchecking it makes it Visible. If you are trying to animate this you have to Activate it in the Keying panel you will know when it is Active if the icon is Red like the Matrix is in your screenshot.
Limitations: When viewing from Spot light the View Widget, Move tools, Eye tools, and Background Widget do not work. Only the Object Navigation Widget can be used to Move and Rotate from this view. However when not viewing from Spot light all tools should work except the Spot Light Widget.

TrueBlue,

I re-downloaded, but since the first download was earlier today, it didn't make a difference.

Meantime, I discovered that if I create the light by dragging the icon out of the library into the 3D window, then click the "view" button in the panel, it works as long as I do not deselect and select something else. As soon as I select something else, then go back to selecting the light, the view no longer works.

So something changes from when it is first created, but I can't imagine what. As you can see in the attached screen shots, all widgets are turned off in the desktop panel and "invisible" is checked. When I click the "view" button, the whole 3D window turns aqua, but when I mouse over the 3D window, it turns yellow. Maybe I am not seeing the widget, as I said before. Whatever it is, it fills or nearly fills the screen.

Let me know if I can try any other experiments.

I can not duplicate your problem here. I suspect it has something to do with the Light Manager as I do not use it. The Spot light shown in your screenshot is not what my Spot light looks like.

This is how it looks when I view from the Spot light on my PC. The Object Navigation Widget shown is for this Spot light and I can Move and Rotate it. Sorry it does not work for you.

TrueBlue,

I have made more discoveries you may find interesting.

When I first create your spot, it looks and acts like yours, but when I click away from it and click back on it, it then looks and acts different as I described.

I discovered what is happening: When I click back on it, another (normal) spot is created inside of yours. When I open yours (using orange square in link editor), I find another spotlight inside which wasn't there before. It appears to not be linked to anything - just sitting inside your spot. So there are two spots in the same place - yours and a normal one.

If I select the normal spotlight, it jumps to starting location aiming straight down. I can then delete it. When I exit out of your spot (using orange triangle), nothing is selected, but I can then select your spot and it works fine (including the "invisible" button).

But if I click away and then back, a new normal spotlight is created inside of your spot each time, so I need to go in and delete it again.

Of course, I have no idea what it all means, but thought you might find it interesting. I don't mind the extra steps, since a viewing spot is so handy at times, it is worth it. So thanks again for inventing it.

Well the only thing that appears missing is the capability to resize the beam. Is this possible or planned?
I was going to give this one 5 stars but without the resizing capability you will only get 4.75 and a cookie.

Are you talking about the Spot Radius? If so it is there and you have to use the scubber as it this does not use the Spot Widget. Thanks for the cookie... :)

Using View function from spotlight with multiple 3d windows open make all 3d windows look the same.

Sorry about that. Not sure how to fix that as of yet. The workaround would be to enter the Spot light, select the Camera, and then view from Camera from the toolbar. Or select the legs of the Camera.
