Just a note: my next update will probably not be until Sunday at about 8-10 pm (GMT-6), or if I'm lucky 24hrs earlier, because of exam related phenomena and a math team competition Saturday.

Fortunately the rest of the scene is relatively simple. Even if I don't finish in time for the MMC vote, doubtful, I plan on submitting to the monthly gallery.

Since there is nothing against it in the rules I'll probably ask for your guys' opinions on some lighting and sky textures a few days before it's due.

Actually, asking for and getting help is all part fo the process, so it is not only not against the rules, it fits right in with them!

I got the 3D-Coat demo, it has no restrictions for the 15 days. It is absolutely amazing, texturing will be so easy with that. :) I'm definitely going to use that for texturing the car, then I'm getting it for Christmas with $15 off of retail price. :D

Major update, finished the entire back end, bumpers and all that. Didn't put in the muffler, even though it looks like it that's just the reverse light, but the back won't really be seen anyway.

New poly count (after mirror before SDS): 1165

More work done, but this time on the front. Added the wheel wells as well. Just need to finish the front and then knock in the windows and stuff to do the inside.

Didn't bother with poly count. :)

Finished the front and am outlining the windows so I can knock them in. Then I'll separate the doors and hood and then rough the interior.

Just realized modeling the doors and hood directly on the car and copying it of isn't going to work. :(

Now I need to hollow out the interior and model the door/hood separate.

This is looking good.

Do you need the hood and doors open or as separate parts? If not then you could make a deep SDS groove around each that would make it look like a separate part.

No I actually need them as separate parts unfortunately.

Nearly there, just need to rough the model up. And yes I actually mean destroy it partially as if it were attacked or something. Then I need to map it to texture in 3D Coat.

The rest of the scene is a wall, some grass, the ground, and a few vines.

The wall is going to be damaged concrete with a few rusted reinforcement bars showing and some graffiti.

On top of the wall is going to be aluminum barbed wire, you know the modern stuff.

For the wall I'm going to make the texture first because since the damage is going to be randomly placed I won't be able to predict beforehand how to model those wall sections.

I'm hoping that you can do the dirt and "Abandoned" stuff before the end. If not, please finish it anyway. I LOVE seeing good textures, since that is my weakest skill.

Got all the mapping done, just gonna take a short break then texture the car. Then there's the wall with it's MaPZone texture, not particularly looking forward to that :p, and the ground, grass, and vines.

Oh and of course the sky. :D

Here's how my UV's stand at the moment. (I'm proud of it)

I'm assuming you tried to rename and open the backup too?

I don't have a backup, at least that I could find, just an older save, and there's no way I can get it done from there.

Thanks, I'm going on vacation tomorrow and coming back Sunday, I think. Unfortunately I'm going to be spending most of my time doing research so it will probably be quite some time before I return to this.

Very sorry to hear you are having problems with your MMC entry robert, especially as I was really keen to see this one. Hope you manage to rescue it eventually.

Keep the faith. Even if you have to restart from this point, there are a lot of people who will be interested in the process.

Thanks, :) and I will continue with this after I finish a more pressing matter. http://bestsmileys.com/anxious/3.gif :p

Now I have time to do some more detailed texture work and can really get it looking how I pictured it.

Once I've finished with the scene I'll get to the tutorial, since the car is in higher demand I'll do that first, and then I'll do the scene tutorial afterwards. ;)

I'm not sure if I should charge for the tutorial, or should just ask people to pay the amount they think it's worth and mass distribute it?

My guess would be the latter as it would be too difficult to get the tutorial out otherwise.

If anyone can advise here that'd be great. :D
