I'd really love a tutorial on the link editor and creating basic and advanced materials, perhaps material animations?
Also what are you compressing these videos with? Just curious.. |

HI nowherebrain, just like to say (as your first customer) the vids are great, i've modelled people before but i always had trouble with the nose and corners of the mouth, messey geometry and stuff, your vids have given me a good second method to try out. It's good that you explaned the difference between loops and bands, gives me a better way of thinking around a model. |

I'd also love to see some basic animation and best practices tutorials. Basicly tutorials for how to design scenes with the best workflows for future editing requirements. How to make projects so when you return to them for updating down the road, it's easier and set up well for future editing (models, animations, materials, etc) |

As for LE, sorry, I need a tutorial myself!!!!...anyway Let me finish the modeling charchter series. I'll push that into materials and UV's...and finish with Animation..I'll try to incorporate some scene management in there as well. Hopefully I will have come to terms with the LE by then. Thanks for your input. |

Kinda odd, unless you are responding to om1nous. I wouldn't feel right buying those...learning it...then rehashing a tutorial out of it, seems a bit unfair(for me to do to caligari). |

Bands eh? I just call 'em polygon strips and face loops.... ;)
You're doing great work on these new vids Nowherebrain. :D I think this is an awesome service that you are providing to the tS community.

Hi Norm,
I'm currently trying to allocate funds for these two Scripting Tutorials of yours, they look like a great investment for all of us. I'm loving the experience of delving into the LE and Scripting now and could definitely benefit from getting those two courses as soon as possible.
The reason I jumped into this thread in this regard is just to suggest that these two Scripting Tutorials of yours should be posted prominently here at the forums somewhere in a Sticky Thread so as more people start to delve into the LE (and they sure will now!) they can find these two links here easily.
In fact, maybe a Sticky Thread for ALL links related to Scripting and LE should be started here somewhere, sure would be handy as more people start to discover that the real power of trueSpace is right in the LE! Don't lock the thread though, it will get added to a lot, no doubt!
Thanks for the links above, as soon as I can I plan to get them both! :D

I've said before, and I'll say it again..I think the tutorium link should be set just above the new users thread(where they will see it) and should have a listing of all available tutorials...caligari's, as well as mine, and user created stuff like prodigy's etc.. |

Sorry to play devils advocate here but erm, but Norm, why are you posting your own pay tutorials inside a post of another user who made a post for their own? That's thread-jacking where I come from.
I'd take the suggestion above and delete your post from here and sticky that information elsewhere. It's a shameless plug. |

No it's not! Norm mentioned a tutorial only after NoWhereBrain stated he didn't have enough knowledge. I call this helping. |

I think it's safe to assume a senior member, as nowherebrain is, obviously knows about the videos Caligari sells. Hell on day 1 of owning the latest TS I was all over all the different collections myself, and he's been around a while. Willing to bet nowherebrain knew very well that the video existed, and I'm also willing to bet Norm knew he knew.
I call shameless plug. |

I thought it as fine for Norm to plug his vids. :) Caligari's been trying to get people to warm up to the LE for over a year now and it was through Norm's scripting vids (via ProTeam) that I finally got a handle of it. It makes sense now and seems relatively simple, but at the time try as I might I just couldn't figure it out or get anything to work. Reading the manual doesn't help, you have to *watch* some one working with the LE to figure it out. I'm not sure what could be changed to make it visually more intuitive.
Lets keep things civil here and I think we should all help each other out. What we need is someone new to the LE to write a tutorial as they are learning it that way the things that are roakblocks can be easily detailed by someone who's still fresh enough to it to remember what its like to "just not get it". ;)

Update: The video's are coming. I'm just taking a bit of extra time to get the best quality out.
On The Side: I put up the SMC video for free for people to download..I think it is 1hr 57min or close to that. it's about 70mb(I think) and totally free. |

Nearly done with the body modeling...taking a lot of time to give many more tips for controlling flow etc...so it is taking a while. That and tS would not let me complete the last model...some non descript bug that caused tS to crash whenever I loaded the scene, reset to default context and same thing so....I had to start over. This is the third time..AAAHHHHHH!!!!! I'll try and post a proper progress report this week. |

4th time is a charm...am I doing something wrong, I ask myself...well at least this time I'm done with the body. I just need to do my hands and feet vids, then attach the head and the final tweaks...so soon(now I know how the Caligari team feel when deadlines slip...) anyway thanks all for your patience. |

Hey, nowherebrain,
I was in a Sharper Image store and they were selling a wooden chess set, so I naturally looked at the knight (horse) to see how yours compared...
No comparison! The real piece had about 10% of the detail you included in your video (and no ears). Of course, many chess sets are more intricate but only the really expensive ones have that much detail.
For example, here's a piece from a $250 wooden set on e-bay.
Thanks for the female body set -- I'm learning a lot!

Who are you?....
Just kidding.
first thanks a bunch. Second, I've moved to the "scattered pixel" thread of the business section. Third, I am too laze to go back to "first" and add the comma. |
