Heres Vray not much different then Kerky but does not show the multiple

shadows I saw on your first render.

Are you certain that you didnt have multiple lights turned on:confused:

Note: its green because the grass reflects orange where the light comes from (sunset 6 hdr) and b lue on the opposite side where the blue

part of the sky is...

As Tom says, this is substantially down to which hdr image you use, the orientation of your model relative to the 'world' axes (as the hdr file is always one specific orientation and can't be changed) and the number of samples - fundamentally, hdr should work a bit like an IBL, casting light from all round the scene, the intensity of that light (and consequent shadowing) being dependant on the content of the image. An hdr with one strong light source will create one dominant shadow (but should hopefully include subtle shadow and ambient illumination too). To get a good outside feel, you'll need to use a good outside hdr that compares to the kind of lighting you want - e.g. strong sun, overcast etc... A lot of inside hdr images (or night-time images) will have multiple lightsources from windows or light fixtures and will be likely to cause multiple shadows and highlights.

So if you want a desert/plains type look with lighting dominanted by a bright sun in a certain direction, you need to look for an hdr that gives a comparable atmosphere - and may have to rotate your model to get the shadows cast in the direction you want. Of course, you may be able to 'cheat' by using a different external hdr and reducing the stauration, or using a basic hdr to provide general ambient light and an inifinite light as your 'sun' for more control on shadows....

Saying all that, I've only been using hdr for about a month, so I can't claim to be any kind of expert! :o

Nez your right but if you look at the top of it it doesnt show light coming from different sides and i think he didnt use an indoor hdr for an outdoor object.....
