Still learning the tricks and all the functionality within truespace. So far I am pleased with the way this is turning out. If you look closely you can see the edge of the bed. I have not figured out a good way to simulate the unmade bed (rustled sheets and pillows) just yet. Hopefully in the next version.

Thanks. I know it has a long way to go to get a more real feel to it but I am proud of the fact that I modeled everything myself (pretty obvious huh?;) ) I am also really getting into Terragen for the backgrounds. Amazing stuff.

I do have 7.6 but have not yet worked my way through all the little nuances. I will definitely check that out right away. THANKS.

rjeff,

Where can I find the cloth motion. I am not finding it within 7.6. Is it a plugin? I have searched the web and cannot find it there either.

Thanks.

Thanks. Very interesting. I found that but was unsure what to do next. I will tinker around some more.

Put a plane, one sided for render purposes, or even use a thin cube, floating above the bed. Give it cloth attributes then run the PhysSim with continue unchecked so you can see if you like how it falls before setting it in stone. If you don't like it change the parameters some then do it again, when you get a result you like check the continue box then run it again and stop it when you get the desired result and it will save it as the new default state, this cannot be reversed other than by undo so be sure that's what you want.

Well that was long winded:D!

Hope that helps!;)

You may be able to leave the plane double sided if not using VRay, otherwise uncheck the render single sided box

rjeff,

Thanks, though strange thing is that I can't get the link to work. I will try to find it manually.

Fixed it, click here (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=6085).

I also found that very useful in learning how to use the cloth tool and settings.

Still haven't gotten the covers and/or pillow down yet. Thought I would try the Global Illumination to see what impact that would have. I love the detail visible now but I need to put something up to block the light coming in from the open side. Unfortunately as soon as I do that I will not be able to see inside my scene :)

I will figure something out. Thanks for everyone's continued support and suggestions. It is greatly appreciated.

just scoot your camera up so you can't see anything but the bedroom...problem solved.

rjeff,

Thanks, that was the first thing I did but then quickly realized that I was zoomed in way too much. I am sure there is a way that I can zoom out without moving the camera but like a lot of things with trueSpace, I have not figured that out yet. I am sure it is in the video tutorials that I have not been able to finish yet.

Move the camera in and adjust the field of view to be wider, or leave it where it is and narrow the field of view.

Or even just extend the wall back some to fit your camera.

Here's where to find the control for for the field of view:

Looks like it is coming along nicely.

I think you need to adjust the lighting through the windows. It seems to be coming in the front windows at one angle and the side window as a different (and both with the same intensity). If it is dawn or dusk then one side should be the light side.

Great job so far. Looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I fiddled with the lighting some more and am still contemplating more changes. I am sorry to say that I just gave up on the sheets and used a freebie (I know it looks a little rigid but hey maybe this person likes REALLY starched sheets ;) ). I will keep working on that but I did not want to get frustrated and give up on the scene. I think I still want to put some dirty sneakers and socks on the floor or something else to give it a "lived in" appearance. Here is where I am now:

Here is an idea.. why not post your bed object and let one of us help you out with the sheets. We can do it and then teach you how to from there.

That sounds like a good idea, then you can choose which looks like what you had in mind.

Here's a quick one I did. I just put some random objects on the bed, had a cloth plane on top, ran the sim. When it was done I moved the plane up a bit to make it look like it had volume and did some touch up with the soft paint tools, alternately I could've swept all underside faces inward. Rendered it with Vray using some GI and here it is.

Robert,

Looks great. I think the Sim part is the part that I am not fully versed on yet. What exactly is the Sim? I have worked through the Tutorial on how to make the animated cloth but have not been happy with the results.

Okay, there is a "detailed" section in the manual under the animation section. All you do is get any object and apply cloth attributes to it just like physical attributes to any other object. In the panel you can see different settings, it says in the manual what each does, but it's probably best to change values and re-run the simulation and look for what's different. Other than that the only thing you can really change about the actual simulation is the number of calculations per second and then adjust effectors like wind and such which you can add separately, other than that it calculates using mathematical equations which you can't change. If you don't like the results change settings, add obstacles etc. and run it again. If you get close to what you like check the continue box then stop it when it gets to the agreeable point. From there use soft paint tools point edit tools and such to tweak it slightly getting the desired effect, also I added SDS to my bedspread at the end to make it more smooth and not have sharp corners.

A lot to take in I know, but I hope that helps.

Ok your bed didn't include the textures so here is mine. I tried to match your bed sheet shown.

Edit: I had saved the COB incorrectly and now it should be fine. Stupid cob files, it's been awhile...

Don't take everything I say as truth though, I could be wrong somewhere,:p definitely do some reading, there is probably a thread somewhere about this cloth animating already.

Lol Steinie you saved an infinite light instead of your bed by mistake.:p

Thanks Steinie, once I figure this out eventually I would like to be able to make the blankets and sheets sort of rumpled up as if someone just rolled out of bed and pushed them aside. I can only imagine what that would take.
