I'm burning some vacation time working through the tS7 manual. A couple of bugs:

1. The "Record Preferences Panel" doesn't open as described on page 167.

2. Global Replace is wonky. Start a new scene in Modeller. Add a few (4) primitives (cubes). Pull in an object from the library (spaceship). Globally replace primitives with object. Switch to Player. Primitives are back. Switch to Modeller. Still primitives. Following the "Stampeding Tricycles" tutorial, I ended up with tricycles-in-cubes.

3. I also suffered from the "MIA Widgets Library" issue.

4. Help menu items "Caligari on the web" and "UpdatesPatches" (sic) seem to do nothing.

Mini-rant:

I am using tS7.01

I don't even know if that's the most current GA version.

I had ordered the Boxed version of trueSpace 7. tS7 was released, and I was urged by email from Caligari to download the web distribution. When the boxed version arrived, I reviewed the ReadMe file on the CD. The only difference I noticed was the bit about the Developer's Guide being included. So not needing it yet, I didn't install the disk until this week, wanting to start with 'clean' install. Surprise! Version 7.01!

Of course I want the latest version. I assume the delay for reprinting the manuals gave Caligari the opportunity to complete a new build. However, I would have been nice to have had some notice. If the information was on the website, buried in a forum, or on the TSML, that's not good enough. I should have had an email. At the very minimum, it should have been mentioned in the CD's ReadMe file.

So, what IS the current build of trueSpace 7?

(end mini-rant)

7.01 is the latest version. Advice seems to be to install Cd version over download version to get all new files without losing older ones.

Patch that is being worked on will make TS into version 7.02.

I thought I was seeing that some people had 7.01. Is there a way for people that didn't order the boxed version to get the latest build or are the plans to wait for 7.02 to be done and release that?

I get the feeling that 7.02 is not far away now so there would probably be little point in releasing the CD version to downloaders.....I guess...

Probably a dumb question. But I'm going to ask it anyway... it won't be the first time I've looked like a fool on these forums :)

What if the powers that be were to replace the current downloadable file with a direct copy of the current TS Cd? Wouldn't that work? Just an idea. Not trying to rock the boat (see me paddling quietly away...)

The only significant item with the .01 version is that it will work with Win2k. Any customer who is having problems with installation of Win2k, is being offered the cd to get them going. Other than that, a patch is planned and that will be delivery method for update to folks who have download and for folks who have CD version. So is better for all concerned if we wait till patch is ready to deliver.

Thanks for understanding folks :)
