Yup, definitely works...

Open a new file, call up command prompt, paste this in and hit enter;

Space.LoadScene('\\RS Scenes\\Chains.rscn')

The scene loads.

Now Dele needs to make sure he copies his backed up.rscn files into the RS Scenes folder of the fresh install. They won't show up as icons in RS scene library on screen but can be salvaged this way.....then inserted back in.

I really hope this helps.

When you call up the window do you get a blinking command prompt? I only have an empty blank window and when I tried the cut and paste with an existing rscn nothing happened.

No blinkin cursor in command prompt here.

Just goto default layout, new file, open command prompt, Cut and paste command line and hit ENTER. Works here....:confused:

Try doing it in player side too.

Yes it does work. I had deleted the brackets originally. Thanks!

Wow. I really wasn't expecting so much. I really appreciate you guys taking the time to help. Thanks for all the ideas guys. :)

I had to take a little break and not think about it for a while. I'm ready to give it a go here now though. I copied the whole TS7 folder to the desktop and I'm going to try the reinstall now. Hopefully I'll be able to get everything back in the way you mentioned there Paul. Here goes.

It looks like your trick will work Paul. I should be able to salvage all of my stuff. Thank you again sir. :) I really appreciate yours and everyone's help. :)

I'm a little leery yet about getting everything in though right now. When I imported one of my recordings, TS crashed and threw up those same errors. I was able to open TS right back up but that doesn't give me much encouragement.

I'm hoping that it's just because I did a reinstall only. I didn't uninstall first. I'm going to try to wipe everything out (except my copied rescue folder) and try again.

p.s. I actually do still have the default.ctx from when the problem originated if the devs want it. I just moved it out of the folder, didn't delete it. It's only 7.35mb so I'm not sure if that's the problem but I'll upload it just in case.

OK..here is a simple script object for scene recovery..put it in the LE, go into it with the orange triangle in corner ..write the path to the scene..go back to viewing it as a panel ..then click start.. :D

Hey that's a pretty good idea there stan. Thanks. :) I bet it could even be expanded upon to where you could open up a browser, select the file and then push the button to load the selected scene file.

yes Dele..I'm trying to understand how to expand on the idea ..a textbox on the node would be great too..so you just type in the path without opening the script..just can't figure out how yet:confused:

Until someone manages to figure out how to do a more traditional browse function for it, may I suggest downloading this extremely useful freeware prog:

PathCopy 4 (http://home.worldonline.dk/ninotech/freeutil.htm#pathcopy)

That way people can just right click a file, do Copy Path->Copy Long Path, & then just paste the path into the edit box [assuming it accepts pasting? If it doesn't, it should].

For those not quite as familar with the dark art of Windows-Fu [;)], once unzipped, right click the .inf file & select Install from the r/c menu.

Dele, did TS7 actually run and/or crash just before this happened?

I have been using TS7 for a while with only a few problems. Last night I loaded a largish (2000 wide) image as a background. Went to render and TS7 crashed...now I get your error with no obvious workaround.....:mad:

oh man, I'm really sorry to hear that Paul. :(

The first time it happened to me I had just come out of 6.6 and then tried to open 7 and it threw up those errors and wouldn't open anymore. So that time, no it didn't crash while I was inside, it just wouldn't open.

When I reinstalled without first uninstalling it happened again. That time I was in TS7 and had just imported a 3d recording when it crashed and gave those errors. I was able to open it back up again that time though.

Now I've done a complete uninstall and reinstall. I just started getting some of my stuff back in (thanks to your suggestion), but I'm kind of hesitant to spend all this time getting everything back in because I'm worried it will just happen again. Now hearing that it happened to you as well I'm even more hesitant.

I hope you're able to get it to open back up there Paul. You've probably got even more stuff then me.

Thanks dele, I have had to reinstall but I just did this over the existing install and it opens now. However, I am still having to reconfigure a bit which is really ticking me off. I am also suprised that no one in tech support has offered a solution to this yet....:confused:

that a drag..Splinters..I'm hoping backing up my default.ctx [which I had over written to my configuration] and have my latest layout and preferences exported to a safe place.. with all that I hope I would be able to reconfigure easily..

yes where are the tech guys..

I looked in the manual to see what I could find [not a lot], & found the command that seems to be the equivalent of adding /? after an old DOS command:
System.Help()

but again, all it does in response to pressing Enter is to move the cursor down a line.

I was puzzled by this command as well, but after reading the Manual again I discovered that you have to have the Output View Window open as well. So I open the Developer Layout and enter this command and get the following error: 19:15:01.171 WARN Error: Microsoft JScript runtime error Description: Object doesn't support this property or method Error code: 0x800a01b6 - (null) Line: 1, Char: 20 Script text: System.Help();} 0x80020101 [RsScript.cpp(146)]
I have yet to find references to Namespaces, Commands, etc... and I have not found the RsCmdDoc.xml file to very helpful either.
