In Modeler you can rightclick at a toolbutton to open the other hidden buttons. So that you can preselect it without to activate it. Useful for having a look what settings it has at the moment. And to change it when needed.
In Workspace there is just leftclick at the tools possible. Which activates the tool immediately. |

It seems to me that one of the points of the right hand 'Stack' in WS is to put the info that comes in from right clicking the applicable tools (in Workspace) I think this is what the 'new' TS is moving towards.

That's not the problem here. You need to select a tool for that so that the info pops up in the stack view. Which can be done with rightclick in modeler. Without activating it. But not in workspace at the moment. Here you have to leftclick, which activates the tool immediately :) |

I just tried selecting a cube in WS, then rt clicked the displace-brush to bring up the panel in the stack-view without affecting my selection of the cube

And just tried rt click 'displace-brush' in the middle of drawing with 'Poly draw' - for me, rt click just brings up info on side panel

You still don't get it it seems :D
Go to the primitives in workspace. Select cube. Rightclick. Now try to select the sphere primitive with right mouse button. See the point? You cannot. You need to use the left mouse button to get to the sphere primitive button. But left mouse button activates the sphere primitive tool then. And that`s not what i want :) |

Oooh, I get it now.... if you have to go into the Tool drop-downs, it does what you described, it didn't affect what I was doing because I was choosing the tool already in front - there is a work-around, but I know that's not the answer you wanted.

I agree.
This is one of the Workspace irritating UI things that makes me stay in Modeler side for work. |

Yeah, I've complained about this before too. One solution would be to bring back expanding toolbars, another would be to make the first click select the tool and a second click activate it.

I like the new tool icons look, but the functionality of the old tool bars..aside from the following witch I would keep.
1)hotkey assignment(I like the RMB + Ctrl method)
2)Docking(I like the new docking)
3)Icons("good work!" To that guy who made them, old whatsisname.) |

Just wanted to point out that if you right click any Primitive it opens a panel in Panels. There is a menu in this panel where you can change default settings for all of the primitives. |
