Hi all,


Been a while since I had a little free time to play. Put together a quick robot leg project. This one basically uses 2 anchor points per leg and calculates the required hip, knee, and foot bend in the leg to place the foot squarely on another object.


Move the blue box around and the legs will follow the body. Move the red footpads around and the legs will individually move in an attempt to remain placed upon it.


Perhaps useful with modification in some applications for bug legs, lunar landers, walking robots, etc.


Basically, as long as you know where the hip and foot should be, the knee is taken care of for you. Once one leg was completed, the others were merely a matter of duplication and hookup to the footpad of interest.


A more advanced version may be completed for the next scriptorium.


The script that does the majority of the work is actually quite simple all things considered. Actually had more difficulty with the boxes used as leg segments since I wanted their axis to be at the end and not the middle of the legs. Resorted to using Clintonman's freezetransform script to fix up the mesh so that it's alignment was more suited to my project.
