played aroudn with the texturing; added some bumpmapping and multilayer textures to 'dirty' the surface.... still need to add some irregular geometry to the object edges as well...

Redesigned the MAV layout and split it into different version, heavy/light/arial transport...

here are some untextured WIPs progress on the basic heavy modular design... it has two 100mm Gauss gun artillery pieces on the turrent and two 40mm auto-cannon with electronic ignition and stacked projectile barrels [more on this later]... the heavies doesn't have hover or legs, hence the 3 pair of wheels... the main hull has a armor layer seperated from the hull by about a meter for extra protection...

that looks great!, like a giant spider in the desert, the bump textures are very real, show us more!

excellent design, reminds me of something like the Battletech or Battlemech stuff. I love the 6 wheeled version, can't wait to see it textured.

It may be big but I bet it has no trouble finding a parking space with those guns!! Good looking machine.

thanks for all the comments guys, appreciate it :)

no parking problems at all... hehehe ;)

busy adding some armor panels on the hull plating and more detail on the turrent, then I want to make a more detailed version of the hover wheels before starting the texturing...

got myself tS6.6 @ the door buster special so I'm getting into the new good stuff :D

New version of the HAV Gauss Artillery... designed a universal chasis with special hard-points for a third pair of wheels so the old front-legs extension is not needed to anchor the front wheels anymore...

this also makes room for the universal cockpit/liepod that I'm working on that will fit all vehicles, from LAVs to MAVs to HAVs and the AVs arial vehicles [still to come] ...

I really Loves these thingies, they're just great!

Keep up the good work ;)

New universal chasis for the H-class ... will be used for all variants... and the L-class will have a smaller version without the forward struts for the 3 pair of wheels...

New designation:

MAV-HAg2

Multipurpose Allterrain Vehicle

Heavy Artillery Gauss Mk2

This one has the new chasis and front wheel pair assembly... next I'm going to add a new standard universal cockpit between the front legs...

Next image: the SVC-Standard Vehicle Cockpit will also be modular to fit all vehicles, surface-air-water with minor differences for each like stub wings and flight thurster for arial units, ejector-rocket pods for surface and water-turbines for submercables...

A new cockpit that can be used by any vehicle...

This one is for aircraft... thats why it has its own little wings and thurster pods on the side...

tnx Jack... old habit acquired while working on gaming models ;)

need to kick the habbit for unlimited designs with lots of detail though...

MAV-HAg-P3

Modification :

- no armor ... since its an artillery piece, it doesnt need armor

- 20mm KEPC point-defence cannons ... smaller and faster than 40mm

- hinged cockpit suspension ... higher vantage point to see over wheels

Armor will be used for the Troop Transport version which wont have a turrent.

The 20mm KeneticExplosiveProjctileCannon will have faster rate of fire with multiple rotary barrels, more ammo and manoeuvring so its more suited for point-defence duty to take out incoming missiles/prjectiles.

40mm Auto-cannon with grenade/AP mixture will be more suited for troop support on the transport.

The cockpit between the front wheels does not give a good view for the driver to steer so I lifted it onto a hydraulic-electric arm instead.

The 'between-the-front-wheel' version is more suited for the transport and medium assault versions to protect the driver... will add some armor skirts for better front protections...

Wanna add a radar array for the artillery version to aid its ballistic computer guidance system... and perhaps a trailer at the back for extra ammo...

You really know how to hurt a guy - making all these unreachable "boy toys." :(

Looks really good and as previously mentioned, extremely adept use of polygons.

I can barely keep my fingers off the tesselate or sub-d buttons!

hehehe... jamesmc ;)

I am going to spend some time on rounding it off with sub-d's/nurbs/poly-modeling... like I said to some one in another forum... i tend to do as much basic modeling as possible for new ideas/designs b4 RL and work runs me dry of creativity and i sit around for weeks or months without a nice new idea for a design ;)

Texturing is also goung take A LOT of time... wanna try out tS66's new UV and texturing tools!!! ;P

More details on the Hover Wheels and added a sensor array plus some extra detail panels on the cockpit...

wanna try a different configuration though... swap the smaller guns with the bug ones on a smaller turret on top... will give the point defence better coverage ... and flatten the main gun turret to fit squatly on the hull, like the M1A1 Abrams tank... ? would make ammo feeding easier and not so top heavy ...

also, how about changing the wheels into tank tracks instead? should be more realistic for a vehicle of this size perhaps?

Alright, update time ...

MAV-HAg-P5 = Protoype 5

Heavy Artillery Gauss Mk5 - hull guns instead of turret guns to give it a lower profile and make it less top heavy and autocannon turret with tracking sensor dish on top for wider cover range since attacks would mostly come from above...

Heavy Artillery Gauss Mk6 - tank tracks instead of wheels, armadillo armor plating...

Looks pretty good, but the treads are probably pointing in the wrong direction. Right now you would have greatest traction in reverse.

Your hover wheel design has just inspired me on my MAV variant. THanx. BTW, your sensor array at the back seems very vulnerable for a vehicle that will be going into harms way.

Actually, the images is from behind, so it is in the right direction ;) wanted ths angle because it showed the armadillo armor the best :)

glad to here it b_soldier, got a thread to look at?

well, this is more an Artillery piece so it would be safely inside friendly lines, thats why I removed the initial armour plating... but what did you have in mind to make it less vulnerable? cause I'll most likely have something like this on the main battletank versions as well...
