Hello, can anyone help to provide advanced use of uv mapping and uvwrapper feature in TS, like for characters and faces? Thanks, since I found it's not good enough for complicated uv edit work such as characters and faces.

Need someone here to break my opinion on this.:)

For low poly character UV mapping, the built in UV mapper is OK. But for higher res meshes you'd be better off using an external UV mapper.

I recommend Headus UVLayout.

Other programs to try are Ultimate Unwrap 3D which is also great for converting between formats.

A free option with LSCM pelt mapping is Roadkill.

If you want to tough it out with the trueSpace UV editor. The method I recommend is to color the sections of the model into relatively flat contiguous areas, then you can use "select by material" to use the colored areas sort of like saved selections.

That will allow you to select those areas then idividually project them using a planar or cylindrical mapping. After projecting a group of faces, in the UV Editor move them out of the way of the 0.0-1.0 UV space so you can project the next group of faces.

Once all the faces are projected. Scale, position, and stitch them together to form your UV map.
