Ok I thought it would be good to try our hands at realism. What I propose is we do some kind of computer componet. It can be a mother board, video card, hard drive anything that goes in a computer. Rules are as follows:
1. It must be a real compnet. Nothing you made up.
2. You must start a wip as in the previous ones so we know you are doing it now, and not something you have done already.
3. A picture of what you are modeling would be nice, but not required.
That is it, well all that I can think of. We may have to extend it due to Thanksgiving. What do you guys think of making it a November-December challenge due to Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up? We may have some people who travel and it might cut their time short. I will let all of you decide this. |

Since it doesn't require a full scene, I think we'll be fine with one month. :)
So my guess is we're look at a Friday Nov 23rd due date?

Problem with that is the voting would run into the next month taking time away from the next challenge that's why we leave a week at the end of the month for voting. 3 weeks for project + 1 week for voting. You could make it due Saturday 24 or Sunday the 25 and have a shorter voting period. Then extend it later if there aren't enough entries or people need more time. |

The problem with the 30th is there is no time for voting. (1 week) That takes you into the next Month.

Question: can it be an accesory, or must it be 'inside'? |

Wish I had my old cassette recorder I used with my first Atari - that, or my 300 baud modem. :)
I'll put in something, just haven't decided on what yet. |

Just a quick question (that I should have probably asked before I started). I know a couple of months ago when the MMC was first 'started' there was some question about what things that would be allowed (in comparison to the SMC which I am more familiar with), in particular regarding textures.
For this particular challenge is it ok to use a texture for the PCB providing all of the components are modelled, or do we have to model each printed wire? |

Thanks, thought suddenly struck me that the rules might be different as I knew there was some discussion about it when the MMC first started. Now that's sorted I can carry on texturing ;). |

It's not too late to enter the November Challenge there are still just under 2 weeks left to create a computer component (end date: Friday 23rd November). The more the merrier.:D
Remember: You must start a wip as in the previous ones so we know you are doing it now, and not something you have done already.
Just create a new thread in the work in progress forum and start modelling. :) |

Heck Prodigy I have a hard enough time doing these challenges at my own pace..much less in less than 2hrs...maybe if the topic was speed model a cube I would do well. |

I could maybe make a stick drive... I don't have anything from inside a computer to look at.
Also, I know nothing about rendering, but I could try..
(no SMC for me, yet, my hands shake enough as it is....)

Not sure I'm going to be able to get in on this one. Might be able to whip up something last minute though... ;)
Just incase it got lost in the posts and as a reminder for entrants, there's still 2 days left until the deadline on the 23rd.
Great entries everyone! |

Go for it Jack - the more entries the better in these challenges, even if they're incomplete. I'm probably not going to get my HD finished in time as I'm out Thursday night, so that only really leaves tonight to get it sorted, depending on the actual time on the 23rd that entries close :)

That's quite possible james as we all know there's nothing inside them but a few loose screws and some string. :D

Thanks rjeff. I've finished the model as far as I can, just need to get the shaders and textures right and do a final render. Shouldn't take too long, so I'll get done after work tonight.
Cheers,
