Hey Tom. That's what I thought too but I wondered if I might have been under the wrong impression. I only work on the model side of 7.6 and I use light works. During these renders, I tried to use the plastic and translucent plastic shaders as well as the glass shader for the turntable lid. But the surfaces seemed... grainy and not smooth, with no transparency in the glass. Although the mirror effect for the center of the speakers worked fine.

Like I said, I had the general render settings on the highest I could find with raytrace lighting and I used some default light setups, (starry night with an extra local light) so I can't figure if I did something wrong or missed a setting somewhere... I can make a screen grab with any property panels open that you want to have a look at and post it here if you want...

Theuns - probbaly a good idea to post grabs of some of your settings and we can have a look; alternatively, you could post your scene and we can have a look to see if there's any obvious problems. I still use model-side and lightworks and am not the only one...

Breech - great job on the Dr Who concept stereo, very nicely done.

BB I really like the Dr. Who motif.

Thanks very much guys, that means a lot. :):):)

Y'know, it's funny that ever since I have started entering the SMC I just can't help looking at things differently. Everytime I see something cool my mind instantly tries to work out how I would set about modeling it. :o

You've mis-attributed my quote there!

(walks away muttering....) :D

(edit - it's fixed now, so this post is now basically pointless...)

All right Transient! I have a tuber brewing too :). I was surprised deadline was the 20th of this month, seems kinda long for this one.

Go for it, they look great imo.:)

It was a lot harder to model than I thought it would be. I might have a go at a slow model once the competition's over, to do it more justice.

Yes! The tube itself took me almost an hour, luckily the other tubes where just variations of the first tube and literally took minutes to size and configure. My model is done, so far the lighting has been taking the longest to do and I am getting close, hopefully tomorrow, hmmm today that is.

Wow noko - that's one great real-time render! I though it was vray at first... :) My only comment would be the direction of the 'fake' reflection is all wrong for a flat surface - but I didn't notice until you said there was a reflection ...

I've got an idea for mine - a nostalgic leap to the system I used to pump my amiga through ;)

I knew I should have rendered it using lightworks to get the reflection right :). Thanks for the comments and bringing that to my attention. One of my goals is to get more accurate render to texture reflections, so far I can do a mirror half way decent but beyond that I am not so successful.

Oh yes, the Amiga, some of my most fun computer days, plus start with Caligari24 way back when.

Thanks.

No way man, mine is defintely louder! Two 4x12" cabs plus two 1x15" cabs will shift a lot of air!:D Mind you, could have done with a bigger amp unit.....

Blakeo - really cool job on th esuperwoofer - my brother used to have one of those things and it was pretty loud... very nice texture work.
