Hey so that gives me more time :)

Maybe I'll go back and fix.

Remember lighting, Texture and Render is not counted as modeling time..

I know. There are some details I left off, and a couple of things I wasn't happy with, but had to stop due to time. Not to mention, I'm not happy with the render. :)

Thanks on the extension Prodigy; I meant to get back to mine and just haven't yet. You picked an interesting topic, although a somewhat tricky one to do something "different" with. (And I think I've noticed in past challenges this community really does enjoy trying to be "different" with their entries.)

Anyway, don't beat yourself up on this one. Some challenges are more challenging than others. I think with the extension a few more entries will wind up being completed.

I agree with what the others are saying Augusto - don't give yourself a hard time. Speaking for myself I simply found the theme did not capture my imagination as I thought it was similar to the recent calculator challenge - after all a computer is just a bigger better calculator.

I think this means that a lot of the 'out of the box' ideas - like abacuses and sliderules - have already been done.

Whatever the reasons please do not blame yourself for my (and others) lack of imagination and input. The forum has been quite quiet all over just recently - everyone is holding their breathe for the tS 7.5 release.

You're actually close to my idea. Not quite there, but close.

I'll just say that texturing is going to be pretty intricate if I get that far...

It was really a lot of fun. I loved my Atari when I was a kid.

Too bad no one else is getting in on the challenge. :(

Hey another nice one Ed! :)

I've finally got some free time this week, looks like there are a few hours left so I'm gonna see if I can finish whipping up my idea.

Hope Prodigy doesn't mind but if we don't get anymore entries, I think you deserve to pick the next challenge Ed. :D

Don't feel bad Prodigy. The forums are really quiet with the impending release of 7.5 anyway. You just picked a bad time to win the challenge! LOL ;)

edit: also you may want to edit the first post for the challenge to show the current challenge deadline. A lot of people might not have realized that it was extended.

Cool link Prodigy. Lot of creativity there.

I'm making good progress. It's gonna be a nice render too. Got the case and speakers done, moving on to the subwoofer and keyboard/laser pad. ;)

Thanks Jack. I want to see what you come up with especially after talking about speakers and woofers :D .

Picking the challenge doesn't really matter to me. Partly because I've been lucky enough to have already had the opportunity pick one, but mainly because I just like doing the challenges. I like the pressure of having to model under a deadline. I'm the manager of an in-house graphics department, and every job has to be done RIGHT NOW!. So I, and the designers I work with, really have to think about how we're going to attack a job before we start. There usually isn't time to go back and fix or change things, so how you start and how you work really affects the end result.

If you don't finish your entry and no one else does, then I say Augusto should pick another challenge (That way I can enter :) )

Almost done. Skipped breakfast, so I had to take a break to get something to eat.

I'm gonna skip the texturing individual keys, so I should be done in about 30-45 min or so (I hope!). I've been texturing as I'm going. Shouldn't be too much after that to have a finished image. :o

I don't see why the challenge winner can't enter the next challenge and have his count. There's not enough of us participating all the time to be picky like that.

Don't be sad Augusto. But I see your point, I want as many people as possible to enter too! I had to sit out on a few in a row, just because of not having enough time, but I hate it when I miss them.

More entries, There's still time!!

Cool idea. I think I've read somewhere about a keyboard that works like that - just a projection of light that "reads" where your fingers go correct?

Thanks Ed! :)

Yup! I saw a vid of the technology, but I can't remember where. I think these are already available for use. I wanted to actually texture map out the laser glow for each of the keys, but I realized as the deadline was approaching (again) that would've take way too long to paint. :o

@ Nowherebrain:

This one hasn't been called yet. So if you got a quicky entry, get it in. :)

You still have time Nowherebrain. Prodigy extended it until the 6th. Gives you a few hours. Not sure what time tomorrow though.

And in answer to your question on the challenge thread, whoever wins the challenge (by poll vote) gets to choose the subjct of the next speed modeling challenge.

Hurry up and get your case in there.

As for me, I'm going to bed. Stayed up until 3:30 last night doing my Atari console and then got up fairly early today to go tour the old State Mental Health hospital and grounds. They're turning it into a developement - 170 Acres. It was cool. I'll have to post some images.

Cya tomorrow morning.

Augutso - I Love your Timex-Sinclair!!

I had an even earlier version - the Sinclair ZX81. Back when the 16K memory boost that you plugged into the back was considered a huge memory boost. :jumpy:

http://www.old-computers.com/museum/photos/sinclair_zx81_1s.jpg

About all I ever really did with it was write a simple game in basic that was a American style wild west gun duel with a simple cowboy face made with huge pixels. You had to hit the space bar or something like that within a short period of time to win. It wasn't much of a challenge to play.
