I think that all objects in the scene should be modelled from scratch within the 2 hour time limit. Loading pre-made objects defeats the whole purpose of the challenge. :(

Also as far as policing the rules, we can do that with our votes.

I thought that the challange was to model the object in question.... anything else you add to the scene is just eye-candy.

I don't see why loading premade objects is any different to using premade textures. The artist in me is not happy with posting an incomplete picture and props have a very real purpose in my view - it's all about presentation Dahlinks!

Basically if I can't display my work to it's best advantage - ie in a scene of some sort then I'm not interested in contributing any further to the speed model challenges. Additionally I thought the prime motive here was to have fun and learn, not to come up with more rules and regulations about what is and what isn't allowable.

I second Prodigy's sentiments. It takes no time to load an object from a library and pose it.

I agree, I just think people should remember that when they are voting. They are voting for the "object" and not it's surroundings.

Yeah, a valid point Hemulin. Speaking for myself I'm not that concerned about who wins or gets the most votes or does the 'best' model. I'm always going to be attracted to novel and interesting interpretations on the theme rather than the execution, presentation, lighting, modelling and so on. My vote is always based on what I see as the cleverest twist on the subject.

Different strokes for different folks...

I always vote based solely on the individual object, but I certainly don't object to seeing other things in the scene with it.
