Thanks to everyone that had a go and entered. Numbers are slowly increasing, lets hope the trend continues.

But, for now, you need to choose your winner of challenge #7. View all the entries in this thread: http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=2147 and then cast your vote above.

Voting closes 1:15am GMT Wednesday 14 February.

The entries being fairly low in numbers I can understand but a simple thing like voting for your favourite (anonomously) - it baffles me why there are so few votes cast. 25 votes in almost a week for a forum with over 600 members??? Is it me or is that a bit low?

Come on people, join in the fun, cast your vote, it takes seconds.

I'd vote twice if I could! Alas, my poor little ceiling clock would still be at 0% though. :D

The results might be more about the relevancy of the forums to people than the number of the votes.

On other forums I belong, there might be 10,000 plus members but less than 100 that consistently contribute to the forum. And maybe 200 more that occasionally or rarely contribute to the forum.

Tis the nature of forums.

I look at the bottom of the screen occasionally and I see more lurkers than people logged in. That too is common with a lot of forums; lots of lurkers.

That's true. It lists this forum as only having 175 active posters versus the 679 registered. I would like more people to vote though, even if they aren't participating. It would help to raise the participation. Maybe even if people commented on who they voted for and why?

I can give you reasons why I didn't vote for my entries. They both sucked and showed no imagination or skill. :)

I voted for Prodigy and imo he should be given a seat on the Beta Team as he is a talented individual.

Of course, what do I know. :D

I voted for Prodigy because the face of his watch is awesome and want to force him to make a tutorial about how he did it. Plus he paid me 10 bucks to vote for him.....;)

Ok, this was difficult. There was a lot of good modeling for the allowed time. Like I said in the submission thread, If W!zard had been on time I would vote for his clock for it's very subtle humor, but I went for hemulin's pin clock because it's just a really nice image.

Someone should mention that visitors can vote also, after all, what good is art unless it get's out to the masses?

Thanks - that's much appreciated! :D

I knew I wasn't going to get far on model 'quality' on this one, so was going more for a novel concept instead - so thanks for the creativity comment, that means a lot to me. I'm happy just to get one vote on these challenges! (for now!)

I voted for the mantel clock myself - thought the model itself was nice and clean and straightforward, with really well executed texturing/rendering etc. The rendering on Prodigy's watch was, of course, superb but I didn't consider it a finished clock and hence didn't feel I should consider it for that reason only. Vizu's sundial would have got my second vote if I'd had one....

I was too slow to get into the challenge but I did vote on time!

I voted for Eds mantle clock because my Granny had one and I though Ed did well to capture the feel (of the clock, not my Granny). There was lots of other good ideas though....

Hey!! my watch works!! only need light to work!! :D

Im gonna post on Work in progress because when i decide to do this watch i think i can model all the watch in 2 hours, When i start, i try to make the face as a texture to reduce the time.. but the watch have many many details, and is very dificult to makeit.. and i decide to make on the truespace..2 hours to do this watch is a very short time.. and some of you knows i can make models very fast.. Im very very happy with the final result.. :jumpy:

Well.. lets see whats happend.. Good luck for everyone.. and the best luck for me!! jejejeje

Prodigy

I'm glad to hear you intend to carry on with your watch - it already lloks great and with your vray abilities I'm sure the final result will be superb, as usual.

I apologise if what I said sounded in any way like a criticism - that was not my intention at all. What you have made of the watch is awesome, it was just that it was clearly incomplete, so I assumed you were showing it not so much as an entry to the challenge as just to show how far you'd got.

I did consider having a go at a dismantled clock, surrounded by a heap of cogs, gears and other parts, but didn't have time for two entries, and really wanted to try my idea for a novelty alarm clock instead.

Anyway, I really look forward to seeing your watch progress and hope I haven't caused any unintentional offence :D

Yep, it's pretty tight at the top - but there's still time for those of you that haven't voted to do so and have a choice in the outcome. I'd rather an outright winner than a tie as I don't want to have to make a casting vote but I will if necessary.

Maybe if I ban Prodigy for begging for votes it'll make things easier? :)

Joking aside, there's just over five hours to make a difference - vote people, vote!

I like WickedWitch's clay type figures. Really love that style and texture, so cuddly and humorous.

Any chance of a tutorial on how to achieve the effect? :)

Here's what I find with voting - I find it hard to view all the entries. Time is limited here, so I find it tricky to see what the entries are that I am voting on.

My suggestion would be this - create the vote thread, with one post that has nothing in it but links straight to each images, with the names of course for the links.

Then I could quickly look at each entry, and cast my vote.

At the moment though with limited time, I usually don't vote as I'd have to go through the thread where people posted images - of course what would be even better would be if the poll had the link embedded in it, but I don't think that's possible :(

Call me lazy, but it would be a big help to me for easing the voting process ;)

Thanks!

Tom

The link to the thread with ALL the images to challenge #7 would be this one (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=2147). User's don't make an own thread for each entry.

I think you can make a link for each post by clicking on that little number in the upper right hand corner. I'm not sure how the BBC code would be to incorporate it into a poll though.

Maybe Norm has an idea how to do it? That is put a icon or number associated with each post on a poll.

Cant anyone host all the images on one page if the forum doesnt support multiple images? Saves clicking on each link for each persons image:confused::confused:
