Both 6.6 and 7.6 throwing a wobbley!

I'm not sure whats going on but neither 6.6 or 7.6 would run last night, both came up with a tsxapi.dll error and wouldn't get passed the splash screens, I got 6.6 by running as 98, reinstalled 7.6 and i had to run it as win95.. 6.6 seems ok but 7.6 is max'ing out the memory and after 10 minutes it just unusable, even better it doesn't shutdown, even though it evetually leaves the desktop its still running in Task Manager :confused:
I've done nothing new since I rendered my TMC image, theres no new plugins, I deleted the ts7.6 folder before the re install
its on XP sp3 intel 2.8, over 1gb ram |

Sometimes, reloading a saved image that includes various geometry distortions will cause tS to crash or become unstable. I have been able to re-model the suggested object that is creating the issue and have been aloud to salvage the scene into a more stable environment. If you do not recreate the problematic object, you will always have this issue with that particular reload.
In any case, I would remove tS from the "Programs and Features" inside your "Control Panel" and reload a fresh application to eliminate any crash cycles. Sometimes, reloading the problemayic scene is near impossible. I would try various ways of attacking the object separately in order to salvage the scene...you may need to delete the object entirely and re-model. |

there isn't a scene there for 7.6 to try and load..
I just started it, and then shut it down, but its still running in memory |

I'd reload a fresh tS application as I stated (remove the existing application from 'Programs and Features' first). I'd also look for any other irregular performance issues with other programs that may imply a virus on your computer.
On another note, you can also increase your 'Page File' in your 'Virtual Memory' on your computer to help increase performance (as noted in your 'Task Manager'). |

it is a fresh install, I even delete the original folder, cleared the register etc, there's no viruses.. I'll have a did about and see what windows has updated lately
the only thing I've installed lately was Flash CS4 and Visual Basic 2008..
atleast 6.6 works! 7.6 i just wanted for the cubiccam widget |

If you know about you registry area and what belongs there, that's more than most people know.;)
You stated your first troubleshooting area. Make sure you can acclimate any new program or update changes made to your computer with its surrounding conditions. You should always manually update your computer and look at what your uploading, instead of having the computer doing it automatically. The more in touch you are with your computer and any new processes, the better off you will be with avoiding and troubleshooting conflicts ! :) |

Damn, they knew all along about tomorrow and wrote a time bomb into the code.
We all better get rendering quick...backups are no good once the program explodes!!

If you know about you registry area and what belongs there, that's more than most people know
its called being very poor and needing to figure "stuff" out for ones self lol
I'm just hoping someones had a similar problem, I can't understand why it remains running , it could be because its using win95 compatabilty |

This kind of problem is almost always driver, DirectX, or video card related. A lot of times what happens is that Windows will auto install a driver update and blam trueSpace stops working. |

theres nothing radically new apart from media player 11 :/ I can't say if TS was working before hand, I haven't used it for about 2 weeks
I update DirectX but after it wasn't working, its cr*ppy intel onboard video which MS don't update anyway

Updating WMP would probably install DirectX which usually updates the video drivers for onboard video cards. So you probably need to revert the video driver. Do you know what the video chipset is? |

Its still using the same prehistoric driver
I just found a temp file TS had created so I've binned that.. I'll uninstall the media player, I do remember it could mess up totally and not roll back to the previous one, but I use winamp anyway |
