I thought I read somewhere that this is possible. I have tried a couple of ways and I am just not having any luck. Does anyone know the way  I might be hallucinating on this though.

Thanks

I do this by either selecting an entire loop then deselecting the unrequired edges with the Shift Key and the Paint select tool - or just select the edges I want with the Paint Select tool (and the ctrl button to add to the selection. Depending on what you are modeling the Lasso and Rectangle Select tools can be good for grabbing partial loops too.

Thanks Wizard, that was the ways I was doing it... I thought I heard something about this being implanted in the future, it would be a help. Thanks for the reply.

There's a new check box option for setting it to do partial loops. Also there is a path select tool that will connect the selected elements with a path of adjacent elements.
