Well, re-install didn't work, but total un-install, then re-install did work so now everything is working as far as I can see. The problem occurred after I moved some layouts over from 7.51 to 7.6.

I will retrace those steps and see if problem occurs again. If so, I will have to rebuild all my layouts from scratch.

Nevertheless, Thanks to Caligari for making this release free.

Ah well that would do it. 7.5 Layouts are not compatible with 7.6. ;)

you can't use ts7.5 layouts in 7.6 that is probably where you had trouble..
objs, scene, scripts libraries etc all can be used just not layouts or .ctx files from ts7.51

That's it, Jack - I just re-tried to bring in an old layout - all the buttons are dead, but if I go back to the new default layout, things work. Guess I have a couple of hours of layout-building ahead of me.

Thanks to all for suggestions.

VRay is a plug-in now, so you have to load it using the Package manager.

Sorry for the dumb question, but where is the package manager?

I don't remember ever using it before...

Help! :confused:

UPDATE: Problem solved, I watched the video and got it working! :-)

Package Manager is shown in the Vray Readme file - there is a picture.

Otherwise, find the black button (bottom right) that has a white C:/ on it. Click and hold to show other buttons. Package manager is in that group. Looks like a white electrical socket.

Ha! I answered a question before Jack Edwards did! Ha again.

For some reason the render button on the model side doesn't work to show the vray panel, even if vray is being used. Have to right click the vray render button on the bottom, even in model side to get the panel to show up with vray options.

To use vRay from the modeler side you need to set your preferences to vray on the modeler side. Right-clicking the render icon at the top of the window will then open the vray panel in the right-hand stack. :)

I having the same problem too. Only I want to use the VirtualLight render since it's included in TS7.6: tried many attempts and get the "No Offline Render available, please go to www.caligari.com or contact Tech. Support". Tried the right side panel and nothing. Is there something I should do to get it to render? Just wondering.

Thanks.

::Edit for Correction::

Goes to show you I'm a 'noob'.... I found it. Thanx!

LOL John!! :D Edit: Heh, looks like Steinie beat me to this one too. ;)

@Jartz:

To use Virtualight you need to right click on the render scene icon in Model side. That will bring up the PhotoRender panel which will allow you to select the Virtualight render engine.
13396

Once Virtualight is the selected render engine, right clicking the render icon will bring up the Virtualight render options panel:
13397

Keep in mind that Virtualight is a Model side render engine only so you have to use the Render icons in the Model window to use it for rendering.

Workspace side currently only supports VRay, which is a $300 optional add-on.

Jack the drop down in the Stack use to be broken. If I had VRay installed regardless of the selection it would use VRay. Was that fixed?

I can use the VirtualLight engine in the modeling side just fine, but there's really no option for the layout section? What happened to LightWorks?

Hi Dwatch,

Welcome to the forums! :)

You can change layouts using the 4 tabs at the top. Also you can save and load custom layouts.

To switch back to Lightworks, select Lightworks from the dropdown menu that I circled in the image above. Or in the options panel that Steinie demonstrated in his screen capture on the previous page.

Let us know if you're still having problems with it. ;)
