Hi Peter,

I found your problem. Your model has something like 100 different materials applied to it in "chunks". If you delete the material brick from each of the objects you can then apply your materials.

This may be an issue with models that have both Model side and Workspace side materials at the same time. So that would be something to look out for.

Here's a render with some materials on your car:
18277

I made the windows separate objects so that I could apply the glass to them.

@fahembree,

Is that a working reflection (specular) map? So far those haven't been working for me. :o

No, I think it a glossy jpeg map. See attached screen image. The second image the sphere is a glass sphere but it has reflections

To the point...

I download the windows32 version and the qd file(or what ever it was called. I install qd without probs, I install yafaray it asks where the blender folder is? tried a couple of options Ie the TS main folder (lateral thinking or just plain dumb?), the ts scripts library, but heck can I get this baby to show up anywhere.... Nope. It aint a plugin for the manager so I can't load it that way.

...

Cheers

IK Handel

I had to actually install Blender to install Yaf(a)ray to install Yaf(a)ray4ts.

Glad you also found a solution.

Okay I am confused. I have blender installed, I have Yafray installed and I have the Yaf(a)Ray4ts installed; however, when I go to the Workspace side and look under settings for offline renderer there is nothing there and it does not let me set a path somewhere. Obviously a noobie problem as I am not used to working on the Workspace side. I am predominantly a model side worker.

Thanks for any assistance.

disregard.. I found the install thread in the garage.. thanks Jack.

Nice plugin guys. This is a real help.

I was wondering if you guys could group some of the shader settings particularly the glass shaders. It's kinda annoying sometimes when I have to remember which settings are used for the fake type glass and the realistic type settings since it's either one or the other anyway (apparently if absorbtion is enabled then some of the settings are not usable anyway just stuff that regards absorbtion and vice-versa).

Realistic:
absorbtion
dispersion

fake:
filter color
trans. filter
and should be everything else (of course IOR is for both).

I also have a problem with enabling absorbtion. When I click the checkbox to enable and then apply the material I notice that when I check to make sure the material is applied as I want by using the "inspect material" tool the absorbtion checkbox is not enabled.

As for the rendering being slow I kinda find it weird as it doesn't seem that slow when I use it in blender although I really like using yafAray in TS because the way that it works for blender is really annoying.

This is a tutorial that explains what the variables do when it comes to the skylight fog settings. It even goes one step further and has an interactive tutorial (kinda) where you can choose set values and see how it works without having to render them out yourself to see how it works.

written tutorial and explanation:

interactive version:

Okay maybe not so much as I don't know how you guys are interpreting the var 'a', 'b', 'c', 'd' into sigma?

I used that sky background tutorial to build the sky section of the Background panel so you should be able to plug the values right in.

BTW, if you guys can figure out a difference in the exported XML files between TS and Blender that makes the render slow down, let me know and I'll fix it. :D

I've been trying to create a render in Blender/Yafaray that matches tS/Yafaray so far with not much success. The tS/Yafaray renders do seem a bit slower, but the results look better so I must be missing some parameter in the Blender setup.

By the way, I see that Final Gather is not enabled by default, yet the Yafaray tool tip in Blender says it is recommended.

Final Gather works with Photon Mapping, since the panel is defaulted to Direct Lighting, I unchecked Final Gather.
