Uh-oh...seems there is a problem. My post (and reply) from 3Dconnection:

I was disappointed with that the spaceNavigator didn't allow me to choose an object then manipulate it (as in your puzzle demo). Will this option be available for tS7 (in both the model and workspace views)? Also will there be a Vista 64 driver (as with other applications)?

The integration into trueSpace was done by Caligari. Contact them with questions. Your suggestion seems like a very valuable enhancement (if it isn't already there). That's why we put it in the puzzle demo.

Please post back here what they say, so other ts users will know.

No question of not taking ownership, the facts are the facts, and not a problem with anything :) All coding, development etc was done by 3Dconnexion and our developers wrote not one line of code (though they were on hand to help with questions if the 3Dconnexion devs had them, of course!). I'll let my contact Froi Lomotan (director of software engineering) know, but I can assure you that the response you received there is incorrect about Caligari having done the integration.

I now own the Navigator PE from 3DConnexion

It cost $49 at Buy.com
I remember Splinters owned one and had issues with their software for trueSpace.
The device controls the camera view so when you rotate the view you are rotating around the camera axis
and not around the polygon you are working on.
Supposedly they are still working on the software but it has stated that for three months now.
I sent them my feedback stating that it MUST be fixed for me to recommend a purchase.


It works great in MOI. Why did they mess up when writing the plug in for trueSpace? They don't even list trueSpace as supported software.

Only real issue I had was the problems running this and the old .tsx. Caused no end of problems. However, the lack of ability to rotate around selection has put me off using it. Also it cannot be used to navigate a scene in FPN mode....:(


Lets hope it can be improved.
