Would I have to purchase the whole of cooltools? Is MonsterSword just as good?


I haven't used MonsterSword so I'm not sure how it compares to the Knife plugin. But yeah, the Knife plugin is part of the PolyTools set. It's a bundle of 17 plugins for modeling, and it costs around $20.

That's for a more realistic breaking glass / wall type of effect.


I think a simulation with a uniform cube wall would be easier. Use the Array tool (as TomG points out on that page) or duplicate a cube by hand (enable Collision Detection to be sure the cube flushes with neighboring cubes), and then apply physical properties to the cubes.
