re: test thread.
Seeing there is some concern with graphic size I am posting the following graphic as a test.
This is from KheangChrun(kcnz) posted on Caligari forum Feb. 08, 2004.
I feel it would be a shame not to have such graphics being posted here.
It was 1155 X 861 @ 803K in size. Now 800 X 596 @ 155K. Even so this is a great graphic. What are the reasons for the new limitations? |

I agree, it is a great image. & at the new size, I have no problem with it. The reason I was asking for restrictions to be imposed is sometimes people post images that are so big that it means that anyone who doesn't have their screen set to the same resolution as the person who posted the image has to either scroll back & forth for every line of each post on that page, or else block that individual image once they've seen it.
With this new forum layout the maximum width I'd like to see would be 925. Having said that, on that test forum that some of us found, someone posted a pic that went off the side of the screen, but only that post was stretched, the one underneath was normal sized. I don't know if it's possible to do that for attached pics as well [in this instance it was a direct linked image], but if it is that would certainly be better than the current situation where 1 person posts a big image & anyone with a lower screen res has to keep scrolling back & forth for every line on that page. |

I think that 800 for width is probably pretty good. That way the people that have 1024 X 768 resolution with their browsers sidebar open should still be able to see all of the text without trouble. I would personally like it if the height restriction was bumped up quite a bit though. :) |

Sounds good to me - I would have said 800 as well, but I thought I might get less disagreement from those who would post larger images if I upped the figure a bit as a compromise. |

Alien you are asking for a 800 pixel limit.
That is the current limit for posting pictures on this forum.
Try an experiment and include a graphic.
You will be prompted for the graphic and it list the limits.
Which for graphics is 800 X 600.
It would seem that the vast majority of graphics would fit into
this size. So this size should not cause any problems for most. |

Hmmm. I haven't tried uploading a pic yet, besides my avatar that is. I had noticed a couple of pics that were more than just a little bigger than 800 wide, but I guess they must have been posted before Norm added that size limit rule. |

I think that would work Norm, but only if the ftp server being linked allowed anonymous access. |
