Does anyone have a good idea as to eleviate the problem of why all my bold
text is italic?

Yep! Twist your monitor, though your non-bold text will look Italic, lol!

Check in the Control Pannel Settings, Appearance.. snoop around for Italics
that are enabled

Here's a hint if you have windows 98 98/se or ME, right click your desktop,
choose properties, choose appearance, look for 3 windows in the center of
your screen, one says MESSAGE TEXT. Click its top border. Now look down 3
boxes, you'll see Font: this box should now be editable, to the right is a
(down arrow) click it and all your Fonts names appear (like MS Sans Serif
(Western) and to the right is the Font size like 8 and the color of your
Font. change your font here click APPLY and OK and you're done.
