Well, HooverAE is currently down for the count. My Windows machine blew
up (not literally, thankfully) and I haven't had time to get into it to fix anything. Might not get to it until this coming weekend...not that anyone comes to visit all that often, but I figured I'd drop in and let those few who *do* care know what was going on :) wingAug 14, 2001, 11:25pm

Well, it all started with a standard reformat (doesn't it always?) I do
it every few months or so, since I really abuse the hell out of the computer (in/uninstalling apps, trying new tweaks, beta software, etc) and it gets clogged up pretty fast. Not the right way to treat an OS, but I've been doing it for years LOL :D Anyway, this rebuild went awry. Corrupted and missing files, ethernet settings didn't take hold, video driver won't install...basically just bad things everywhere. I think my apps drive (separate from my boot drive) is dying, unfortunately. It's the oldest one in the box, and it's had a good life...but I think it may be time to retire it and move on. I'm currently on my seldom-used Linux install (same box, different drive) so I could at least get to the newsgroups. But now that I'm here, I may just stay, set up the servers under Linux, and be done with it :) [View Quote] > What happen? > Someone set Windows up the bomb. > > Just overly curious, what went wrong? wingAug 15, 2001, 12:44am
I'm in almost the same boat, except the ethernet is the only problem. I think I toasted the card though, not sure.
