Fullscreen Capibility (Wishlist)
Fullscreen Capibility // Wishliststeve rJul 11, 2005, 12:47pm
Would be neat if fullscreen was possible, meaning 3d view would cover
the entire screen, and you would have kind of HUD features... Just a thought, has this been suggested / denied before? lol.. Steve themaskJul 11, 2005, 5:55pm

I remember seeing a screenshot a while back from Grimm that had it
fullscreen, with actual HUD features.. Or am I just dreaming of that? I do remember that though. It was really cool. strike rapierJul 11, 2005, 6:08pm

It's funny but I've been working in 3D Game Studio quite a bit and the first
thing I wanted to know was how I could make the screen sizable like it is with AW...lol...theirs, like a lot of 'Game' applications limit you to various 'set' screen resolutions and any window frames or buttons cover the actual game area...but I agree...if AW could get a bit more 'Game Engine' like, we'd have a hell of a program in our hands...to be able to actually shoot at people and see a bloody result rather than them just disappearing for example would propel this engine way ahead of the competition... -- ---------------------------------------------------- This mailbox protected from unsolicited email by Spam X-terminator from StompSoft http://www.stompsoft.com [View Quote] c pJul 12, 2005, 2:25pm
I now agree with mark about you;
1) you made several posts in quick ammounts of time n the same section...see you can link ideas...pixel shaders and max fps...See? 2) AW is not a game engine, Renderware; is a game engine. Activeworlds uses Renderware (rwx obj...) which thus results in every feature and capability aw has. 3) "rather than shooting someone and having them dissapear" LOL!!!!! If your reffering to paintball, or any shooting games, all of that stuff is done world owenrs end...none of it is controlled by aw...if someone wants a corpse or a seq to play when someones shot, its up to the bot programmer or worldowner to figure that out. Especially because AW isnt a game... it is a chat that has a 3d window...AIM with pretty pictures... AW has the capability for games to be built inside of it...but never has there actually been AWI built games, errr newaw checkers chess ok...but those arent what you refferencing to. 4) haha mark pwnt you in the last thread :) -Su amigo C P mpl knightSep 8, 2005, 6:51am
Fullscreen Capability... hmmm...
Yup.. Chris Murwald (chrispeg) mentioned something awhile ago about having something like that running on his personal system. May or may not actually get added to the official release, but he said at the time that it worked fine :) Darian Knight [View Quote] strike rapierSep 8, 2005, 1:02pm

Hmmm, come to think of it, I seem to remember some mention of full screen.... -- - Mark Randall http://zetech.swehli.com "Those people that think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do" Isaac Asimov [View Quote] mpl knightSep 12, 2005, 4:30pm
Chris is a nice guy.. a bit overworked, but still a great guy. lol
Alot of the stuff I'm citing I remember straight from Plastic Planet 3D, which was his original system before AW contracted him... i helped him out with testing and suggestions for that system - and when he went to AW I remember saying to the AW public "Betcha Streaming Media gets put into AW soon...". Back then everyone laughed and told me I had no idea what I was talking about... But yes... I do remember him saying way back when he first started with AW that he had a Fullscreen version of AW for personal use that he was going to demo to them to see if they wanted it in the release. The VoIP stuff was based on a project he did for another client before his AW days and he said it wouldn't be *too* hard to include that as well... Of course, this was all before AW apparently gave him a NDA... But alot of this stuff is just logical inclusion from the PP3D system. Just proves that this stuff is indeed very possible, exists someplace, and just depends on whether or not AW happens to like it. And once again - Chris Murwald is an awesome guy. Meh.. no fullscreen yet.. You can take snapshots, finally. So fullscreen
should be about another five years off. [View Quote] mpl knightFeb 21, 2006, 4:39am
Well...
Was messing around with the 4.1 aworld.ini and there is a setting with installation_fullscreen = 1 or something to that effect... As far as I can tell it's just a window at fullscreen... not truly a fullscreen application but I guess it's a start. [View Quote] |
