I've heard that Ogg Vorbis is a nice format for compressed audio...I've
never used it but if an Ogg file is smaller than an MP3 with the same or
better quality...then I think AW could use support so broadbanders like me
can put up larger audio files that would still be smaller enough (hopefully)
so some dial-up users can still download them. Of course, there would be a
seperate setting to turn on and off downloading these files (while we're at
it, seperate MP3 from WAV). Also, I think an ogg vorbis could be used in AW
from a tripod server (MP3s there have one of those download pages to
somewhat-prevent using them in AW).

Also, another thing that would be cool is to have something like a more
user-controlled Winamp AVS-type thing. Maybe AW could work out some deal
with Nullsoft to put in AVS support, and then users could put a code into a
picture object like "create avs http://www.domain.com/folder/file.avs" and
then when the user sees that object the .avs gets thrown into thier cache
(and there would be an option to keep the .avs presets on your computer) and
then they can watch the AVS on a TV and we can get real moving,
sound-reacting pictures in AW.

I already made a wishlist post regarding Ogg Vorbis (as well as
streaming MP3s) back in February of 2001. The post is at
news://news.activeworlds.com/3A8C46E0.3D8D30E7%40yahoo.com. It was made
over eight months ago, and there is still no Ogg Vorbis support in AW
yet. The feature set for AW 3.3 is full as of now, so the earliest Ogg
Vorbis support would be added would be AW 3.4. I suggest you and anyone
else interested in seeing Ogg Vorbis support added to AW either e-mail
AW management (Rick, JP, etc.) and/or make a suggestion in the
suggestion box.

Would also be cool if we had .swa file support for sound and noise
some are good sounding and they are alot smaller then an .mp3 file would be.
And they take lest time to download.
and yes they could be played through AW.
winamp can play them even thoue the .swa is not listed in with its sopported
file types.
So im sure AW could be make to play them also.
Heck just make all sound and audo files supported, make all happy lol
Would also be cool to have .mpg video support for picture obejcts :-)
