Keeping information in "action" field (Bots)

Keeping information in "action" field // Bots

It seems to be some kind of undocumented feature that text in the
"Action" field of an object will be ignored if it does not correspond to
an action. Currently, we have one bot that uses this functionality so
that it can keep track of its own object, and we are considering using
this field as the basis for a system that would track outdated objects.
Has anyone else done something similar, and what is the best way of
ensuring that the text will not be misinterpreted (e.g. enclosing data
in commands)?

Uninterpretable data in _commands_ usually make the command
useless. You should be able to append data that will be ignored
behind a semicolon though, where the browser would expect a
new trigger. Afaik., this cannot cause problems at all.
