Greetings,

I have held a world which has quite a lot of builds in it, that are also
interlinked with bots and such.

The system the server was running on had a power failure, most likely during
the time the server was writing to cell data files.

This causes an error of something along the lines of "Unable to read cell
database - run convert!".

The convert.bat program that it suggests, simply says "Invalid path" or the
like, a few times before closing within the half a split second that it is
open for.

I have a cache of the world, but I believe the method of transfering the
cache to a propdump has been long taken away from AW, as people were using
it for illegit purposes.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I really don't want to start over again.

I recently had the same thing happen to me. I got the run convert notice,
and not knowing what that meant I went and updated my world server. Alas
that wiped out the world but did not solve the convert. I finally found the
file Convert in the main aw file folder so clicked on that. A black Bios
screen appears momentarily then disappeared. When I tried to connect the
world server I still got the same notice. I clicked on the world to open it
and that seemed to work and I was able to connect.
The world was empty, gone, only the street piece left. Not having a recent
prop dump (one week old LOL) I reinstalled using the World Server Backup
File (which I had copied to desktop before updating the server).
The world server must be closed down in order to replace or copy this file
or it will corrupt the files *(thank you m0e). Close the server, replace the
files from the World Server Backup into the main server file overwriting
them, restart the server, and all was back as it was before this disaster.
Seems to work better than prop dumps as it was up to date automatically.

[View Quote] By default, AW server installs into folder C:\Active Worlds Server\
and world backups go to folder C:\Active Worlds Server Backup\.
Convert.bat assumes that you run it from a similar folder, that has
- the .idx and .dat files
- a subfolder called utils that has the dump and load exe files,
- a subfolder called temp where the converted txt files go.
Don't you have those?

If you want to get the exact error message, delete the last exit line away from convert.bat
and run it inside Command Prompt (should be under All Programs, Accessories):
