Those are from the last night of the proms, the last day of an absolutely
huge festival in every country in Britain organised by the BBC. On the last
night they do about 10 simultainious concerns around the UK and at the end
you get about 1 million people singing together.

'Every country in Britain'? What are hell are you on? Pot?
(Assuming you don't know what I mean by pot since you're British)

Seriously, Britain is at most only one country, unless if you count England,
Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland as countries. But where's the national
government? Unless nation and country are different....

Actually, Britian is the name of the island. You're thinking of the
United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Every country in Britain would be England, Scotland and Wales. Each of
the countries DO have their own government that can make some decisions,
but there is also the government of the United Kingdom.

Similar to the states that we have in the US in the respect that there are
some things that those governments can decide, and others that are decided
by the entire UK government :-)

ya but, technicly they are right? you have uk passports, not english,
scotish, welsh, northernish irelandish (sounds better then irish ok >_<) and
well, it's run pretty much the same as the US (in theory anyway. politics
aren't so corrupt in the UK) so, it's not that diffrent from it, so what
makes each country a country and not a state, other then it having the
whole, emm, recognition as a country going on(even though i guess that is
the main thing)?

Internationally recognised national boarders usually make something a
country, and not a state. With the devolution, each country has its own
governing body, which in turn is top-managed by the Government of the UK.

The UK is "as 4 peoples in one kingdom".. When we pretty much owned 90% of
the known planet they were still individual countries, not directly part of
the UK.
