We're Live Again!Mar 21, 2001, 8:54pm
The newsgroup seems full of plugs recently, but I'm going to join in anyway.
Without further ado, I'm posting to announce: AWnews.com is live again! We've got a whole new, cleaner layout, a unified (commentable!) news system, a revised event calendar and a whole lot more. Plus, the news is flowing in full force again. We're poised to become the one site you need when you want to know what's happening in the ActiveWorlds Universe. We've got the lowdown on AWCI's latest business deals in "business," world reviews in "travel," upcoming projects like BigBrother in "entertainment," and the latest rants in "opinion." Add to that a few shameless plugs in "announce!" and even the well-spoken community advocate Goober King (of UTN fame), churning out his monthly "Stirring the Virtual Melting Pot" in "columns." So check us out! Submit whatever news you might have hanging around. And be sure to stop by the forum. (We promise, it's not as quiet as those others that pop up, and it's definitely uncensored.) See you there.... Cybor Awnews.com (cybrzero at mediaone dot net) Fresh from the rumormill.Mar 24, 2001, 12:21am
Where did you hear this? If it's true, maybe someone can convince
management to GPL the code before they file for bankruptcy. Cybor Awnews.com [View Quote] Fresh from the rumormill.Mar 24, 2001, 4:05am
Are you sure this is true? I know you have to have a license to use the
RenderWare API, but would it constitute a violation if the RenderWare files were removed? If this were so, one could work on such source only by purchasing a license for the API. (Otherwise, no compile; the relevant RenderWare .h & .cpp files would be missing.) Much of the code is not dedicated to rendering anyway; I'd think something in there could be useful. If worse came to worse the engine could be replaced... In any case, this is no small project; I just would hate to see the software go entirely to waste. It's also worthwhile to keep in mind that all this is just a rumor. Cybor Awnews.com [View Quote] Awnews.com DowntimeMay 30, 2001, 12:07pm
Hi everyone...
Just wanted to let everyone know that the Awnews.com downtime is only temporary and that the situation is being resolved as I write this. Apparently there was some billing confusion with our host, and we were shut down for delinquent payment. They have updated information now and we should be up and running again shortly. Sorry about the inconvenience! Cybor Awnews.com It lives?Jun 20, 2001, 10:19pm
