Thankyou for your well wishes regarding the introduction of Therapy world in
AW. I can assure everyone that the intentions of the professional staff associated with this world are purely and totally that of offering a voluntary service. I agree after spending some time in AW that there are many people who need help - but this is to be expected because the AW community comprises a wide selection of people with varying interests and capacities from any country in the world that enables internet access. As you can read from the various posts in response to that initially submitted by my colleague Katalyzt, people do have different notions and ideas. One hopes that any thinking person generally seeks to value and protect diversity rather than homogenize people and cultures. Therapy world while offering online counseling also offers a place for broad based conversation and everyone is welcome to pop in and contribute. In addition, we will in the future be offering public seminars about matters relating to mental health and also seminars for mental health professionals. I would ask you to note however that if a counseling session is in progress the world will be closed to maintain the client's privacy. Registered and non registered users of AW will be able to obtain assistance insofar as their problems fall within the capacity of the professional team. At the moment we have 3 qualified counselors available and hope to extend that number by counselors from other countries and with other languages. If anyone is interested in contributing to this service I would be delighted if they emailed me at contact at therapist.net. Further, if anyone has suggestions for public seminar topics we would also be delighted to receive them at the same email address. Therapy is the first online counseling venue offered in VR and as such there will be a need for constant evaluation. My colleagues and I would appreciate your comments about any and all aspects of therapy and hope that many of you will pop in to say hello. User dismissal voteFeb 8, 2001, 9:11pm
Eep should never be banned from contributing to the newsgroup. No-one
should. If ppl do not like what is being said they can filter. I [317414] vote for Eep to STAY [View Quote] User dismissal voteFeb 8, 2001, 10:47pm
I dont believe you realise what has been created by your action. A pandora's
box has been opened that will not be shut. You seem to talk from the position of high moral ground when in reality it comes from the swampy lowlands of personal irritation. Ppl who have posted here for a reasonable length of time I hoped would have understood the notion of free speech and the value of difference and disagreement. Ppl here today are instead trying hard to justify their vote against keeping Eep by "its not personal" and sheesh --- "i cant read such stuff at school" type arguements' Facter, as a voting mechanism this is patronising in the extreme because the demand for this vote came NOT from the community but from YOU and AW. What agenda is hidden therin? Who will be next - someone else whose opinions do not fit with that of the management. Doesn't this all smack too much of ensuring compliance by instilling fear and threats. Who here is so innocent they feel totally able to cast the first stone? Sheesh, Eep has irritated me greatly in the past by some of his comments, but to allow anyone to or any group to ban another from speaking out is reprehensible in the extreme. and to do it with such patronising comments is insulting. Please, I cant speak for anyone else posting here, but I am an adult and would prefer adult real, honest argument and debate. At least with Eep i know where I stand whereas with your comments I could never be sure that you would not suddenly drop into management mode and ban me.
